BeoSound 8 is really very very good.................

As reported in another thread I bought a BS8 after a one week trial from B&O Liverpool. The logic in doing this was probably the wrong way around  - we (the wife) had an iPad with a lot of music on it.

Now, after a few weeks of use, I have concluded that the sound quality is really outstanding. Anyone with Beolab 5's is going to disagree of course, but I find that the BS8 speakers perform very well and stand comparison with the old but exceptional S45's. If we turn-up the volume just a little the sound carries all around our apartment and is to all intents and purposes distortion free with a wonderful bass. Strangely enough, despite the closeness of the speakers to each other, there is still a good stereo effect, although this may have as much to do with our room acoustics as anything else.

If anyone is still having doubts about an iPad/ iPod dock I really would recommend the BS8. Ideally, get a home demonstration and play around with the loudness/ wall position settings before you decide.

Vikinger, thank you for your report! ive found it really interesting as I plan on buying the iPod3 next year as im planning a few trips to India and Iceland (to see The Northern Lights) and ive got heavily interested in photography. I think the iPad will be perfect for viewing the photos on!!!

As ive said before, the BeoSound 8 is my absolute favourite from the B&O range due to my love of Apple products. Their products have really enhanced my music experience due to the fact that my entire lifes worth of music and indeed my old Breakfast Shows travel with me the world over :).

Thanks again for your report. The white BS8 is on my 'to buy' list for 2012 (with yellow & orange speaker grilles).  Thanks

Or my BL3s. It's not a patch on the BL3s. Not even close. The BL3s are far more vibrant, wider sound etc.

However, I will agree it's a superb product. Audio quality is very good and seems to have improved after months of use. It's better now than it was when I bought it, for sure.

BS8 is one of the best B&O products for the money, by far.

Yes, but remember Moxxey for the price of the BL3's you should expect absolute perfection!  That kind of money buys professional studio grade speakers that we use in our studios.

Let's not talk about the BS8 as though it's some bargain as outside of this BeoWorld, it is an incredibly expensive made in China iPod dock.  I like the look of it, that's why im planning on buying one.

I don't have too many issues with products made in China. Many of the luxury clothing brands have been doing this for a few years now. Generally speaking, the Chinese will just do what you tell them to do, to your spec. I don't see Apple complaining that their goods are second best as they are produced in China and not Denmark...

The BS8 is very good value and very inexpensive for B&O, so we are correct in saying it's value for money when you compare it to other B&O products. When you compare it to rival products, it's expensive.

    Hi Graham,

    Yes, the BS8 is wonderful!

Even if I have a pair of BL5 in my living-room, I still love listening to the music in my office from the BS8.

This little B&O music system is astounding!

Comparing BL5 to BS8 is like comparing a Bugatti Veyron to a Mini Cooper S.

Both offer you thrilling sensations, but not in the same conditions.

    That's my humble opinion.

Hehe Edouard, that's actually a very good comparison as both of those cars are super good in their own way!  Actually for the price of BL5 you could buy a new Cooper S - now youve stopped smiling hehe

    Hi Paul,
