    earthing turntable to Beomaster 4000

    I have owned a Beomaster 3000-2 from new in 1973. It is connected to a Linn Sondek LP12 via the two Linn phono plugs and the Linn earth lead is screwed to the Beomaster earth terminal - everything is perfect. I have just purchased an absolute mint Beomaster 4000 and connected my Linn phono plugs to the B & O phono inputs but cannot see an earth terminal on the Beomaster, Without this, there is a very bad hum through the speakers which remains when I try to play a record. How/where do I fasten the Linn earth terminal to the Beomaster?

    I know that the Beomaster is not at fault as other input sorces work perfectly.

    Kind regards,

    My BM4000 has a ground screw.  Perhaps you're just missing the screw?

    If memory serves, it's near the speaker cable inputs - straight back from the bass slider maybe?

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

    According to the user guide, the grounding screw is right next to the speaker 1 inputs, at the very right end of the back (and thus behind the volume slider).

    Re: earthing turntable to Beomaster 4000

    I don't have my 4000 here so I could check the presence of the ground screw, but in any case there are versions that have both DIN & RCA connectors for the inputs, and versions that have only DINs (like mine). Perhaps the ground screw is present only in the versions of 4000 that have RCA connectors (because you are not supposed to need one if the turntable has a DIN plug).

    In any case, the goal is to electrically connect the ground lead from the turntable to the chassis of the Beomaster. If there really is no dedicated ground screw anywhere, you can misuse a suitable mounting screw on the rear panel. Another way is to use a spare DIN plug, connect the ground lead to its sleeve, and insert it into a spare input.

    Actually, if are using an RCA-to-DIN adapter now, you should just use the sleeve of that plug.

    To everyone that took the time & trouble to reply to my query re: earth grounding turntable/Beomaster 4000.

    Sincere thanks - the ground terminal was indeed tucked away in the top L/H corner and now that my turntable has been grounded via that terminal, it is absolutely perfect - the extra power over my 3000-2 is very evident! Many, many thanks to you all.
