    Redline 60.2 ($100)

Hello - Beoworld was an inexhaustible resource for me when I unwittingly acquired my Beosystem 7000 a few years back.  I now have a chance to get a pair of RL 60.2's (with wall mounts) off a guy on craigslist for $100.    Is this a fair deal for these speakers assuming that they sound okay (with no apparent issues)?   I have the a pair of RL 35's which I kinda like at low volume levels (I use them in my office).  I assume that the 60.2's would be a big upgrade from the 35's.  How would they pair with the Beosystem 7000?  Unfortunately I can't afford to buy any really good speakers to pair with this system but since these are B&O (the 60.2's) and they are only $100 I thought it might be a good way to go.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Jason

I would do it! You will like the 60.2s.

They should be just fine with a 7000.

Thanks, Evan.  Just wanted a bit of reassurance!

Might need the drivers' surrounds replaced if they have foam rot. Still worth it though.

Not a problem in 60.2, they have rubber surrounds.

Definitely a good buy unless they look horrible externally. But prepare for additional cost if you want to keep them anywhere else than on the floor. The stands don't come for free if you try to get them separately!

Edit: just noticed that wall mounts are included Smile

    BTW Jason,

If you feel up to it, replace the capacitors on the crossover. You simply won't believe your ears!

    Re: Redline 60.2 ($100)

Thanks for all the help!  I was thinking of maybe building some
(wood) stands.  Since I have the wall mounts it shouldn't be too
hard I wouldn't think.  Maybe just model them after the original
stands.  I would like to replace the capacitors but I don't really
have the knowledge for that unfortunately.  Once I get them maybe
that will be my next project.  Glad to hear that the foam rot is not
    an issue with the 60.2's.

    Thanks again for the help.

One last thing...Can you get a good bit of volume out of these?

I would say surprisingly much for that size & form factor. But they aren't any disco PA speakers - keep the level sane, you don't want to burn them!

I'll second Mika there, they are impressive for their size but aren't really a large caliber speaker. When I was recently holding a set, all I wanted to do was listen sanely and mind you, that isn't like me! They are at their best when played gently.

Just picked these up.  They are in amazing condition.  1 owner and have only ever been mounted on the wall in a kid/pet/smoke free house!  Haven't been used at all in 12 years.  Can't wait to get them home.

Thanks again for  everyone's help.  Feeling pretty good about the $100 for sure...

    Bargain!

Really good speakers, my favourite of the redlines Smile

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Have them hooked up now and made some really cool looking stands I think.   Check them out.

Thanks!  Yeah, pretty fast.  Got the materials yesterday around 2:30 and finished up last night around 9:00.  Luckily I had the SEC Championship to keep me occupied between paint coats.
