    BeoGram 5000: Platter imbalance/warp issue?

    Hey all, this is my first time owning a Bang and Olufsen product that I found on eBay. For $100? A steal... it seemed like it then. I finally got a replacement DIN-RCA adapter but unfortunately, I tried pressing the play button in the front and apparently the platter is imbalanced or warped. Is there anyone that can help? If anyone responds, I'll post a video of my poor BeoGram trying to function. Thanks, everyone, take care.

    There are three screws under the buttom of the Beogram that lock the floating suspension system, as my brother in name says, you should firstly be sure that they are screwed all the way in the "Play" direction (counterclocwise).

    Next, check if the platter is properly "mounted" on the subplatter, it should be nice and level, just like this:

    Thanks for the tip! What would I need to tighten the screws, however? I've never seen screws like these before.

    If your BG 5000 is like mine, the transport screws are located under the platter, do like this

    Dismount your cantilever, one hand hold the arm steady, the other hand grip the cantilever with 2 fingers, wiggle and pull carefully until it comes of, put it aside in a secure place, its worth gold if its OK. Now try if you can get a finger or 2 under the platter and lift it of, if not insert a small item under (green arrow) the platter and lift until you can get a grip with your fingers, carefully wiggle a little until it comes of, be careful we dont want any scraches or marks on the aluminum.

    under the platter you will now see the flywheel and this one.

    There are 3 transport screws, and 3 plastic taps, red circles, turn the plastic taps until the flywheel is free, turn the screws counter clock wise until you can move the washer so the screw head fits through the hole, turn the screws clockwise until they are well under the washer, 2-3 Mm. In the green circle you can see the hights adjustment, 2 of these are can be adjusted without taking of the top deck, but to get at the 3rd one you will have to take of the top plate. after loosening all taps and screws, press down on the flywheel, it must move freely up and down, turn the flywheel, it should move with very little resistance, check if the belt is there and correct attached.

    Put back the platter and check the hights, should be like this;

    Have fun, come back and tell us if we did help or not, and enjoy your Black Magic (Vinyl) a pick or 2 are welcome
