Am I right that this software update is only for the ripping station and not for the much longed-for two-way capability of the Beo6?

Does it have to be physically mounted on the Beosound 5 or can it be hidden away in a cabinet and connected to Beosound 5 by wires only?

That's the idea - and the supplied cables are very short.

At least the new "about this version" file does not tell anything about 2 way -
looks like we have to wait for 6.06 to get this feature ...

It floats just behind the screen, Razlaw. Barely noticeable and ultimately the most convenient location for a device if it's even needed. Most folks who've adapted their music consumption to digital probably won't need such a gizmo, but there's no question that it widens the appeal of this device. We're very excited about it.

I don't need it, but as it is B and O, I want it. LOL. Just not sure I like the looks of it behind the Beosound 5. I have my 5 setting on a cabinet and like the way it looks with the space between the screen of the 5 and the top of the cabinet.

I'm very sympathetic to a finely tuned sense of aesthetics (where would B&O be without them?), but if you look at the thickness of the ripper it would hardly change the proportion. When we first saw the unit we had been sitting in the room for almost a half hour while it was sitting there and no one noticed it until it was pointed out. Check it out at your dealer and see what you think. I'm sure we'll be posting some pics as we install them in the shops.

I cringe at the though of re-doing the wiring in the mount and twisting the BeoSound 5 back on correctly. Remember how we had to follow that convoluted wiring diagram exactly to get the wires to fit?!

BTW, Razlaw, you have a beautiful setup.

    Do I understant it correct:

You plugged an external USB-Drive into the Beomaster and with this new softwareupate you can simply rip into WMA losless with the Beomaster 5??

I will try to post a picture of the mounted device, but impossible to add image via ipad

It fits good, even placed on a cabinet.

OK, now it has been officially released:

Re: BeoSound 5/ BeoMaster5 - New Software & Ripping Station available

I thought it was a joke, but it seems to be for real..

Regarding the relative thickness of the Beosound 5 itself, why wasn't there a CD-drive build in in the first place? Every laptop PC has got one build-in.

(same question comes to my mind when seeing a B&o television; my iMac is a HD-television and a computer and has a DVD-drive build in, for 1100 euro's..., why is there no DVD-drive build in in every B&o television?)

Has anyone's dealer confirmed the two way control availability? I spoke with my dealer yesterday about it and was told not yet available although I was told I could order the ripping device.
