Any ideas what could be the problem with this beocord 5500?

Playback on this Beocord is fine, but when you press FF or REW, it stops and does not respond and shuts off. Any help from the forum

    would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Sounds a bit like what we had here recently:

Hi Martin, Got it working, no I did not open it or anything, I am not a tech. I unplugged the 7 pin audio cable from the receiver. Played a tape, then I touched FF, guess what it did. Then I tried REW and it does it.

I reconnected with Beomaster 5000 and tried it with MCP 5000 so far it is responding to all commands.

Not sure what was wrong but so far it seems to be working ok.

What do you think happened here?

Yes I think the tape I was using was the problem, cuz it seems to be working fine now.

If the tape binds when running, the motor current goes up and that will eventually trigger
the protection circuit. Just as it would if the tape was jammed or had reached the end.

Many Thanks Martin for your replies. One last question regarding the automatic recording level. Does it adjust itself to the max level even if you do the recording off a vinyl? The output, compare to a CD player,  is not very high as you know of a turntable, in my case I have a RX2 here.

    Please let me know.

    All the best.
