However I sincerely hope that mock up on the link above is not the finished product... It doesn't look very B&O at all...
I think it's the real deal, since the picture is taken from the FCC site (which have more pictures and the user manual)... Not quite sure what I think of it...

The concept sounds great! In fact, I can't wait for it! However I sincerely hope that mock up on the link above is not the finished product... It doesn't look very B&O at all...
It is. And you can see photos on this public PDF: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1580411
I've seen a better picture which was sent around the the dealers and it's ok. Nothing amazing. Aimed at a different audience from what I'd normally purchase.

Thanks for the link. Interesting, but to be honest, disappointing for me. It's neither "retro" (ie a nod to the original Beolits) nor stylish enough. And it looks plasticky.
The dimensions don't sit comfortably with me either, it is too fat. Also, the tray thing on the top is far too fussy!
Enough of the negatives anyway - I'll give it the benefit of the doubt though until I have seen it in the flesh. Just my initial impressions that's all.

I disagree - They need to be great value highly desireable products which are fun to use, innovative and lovely to look at for the "play" concept to work.
That one so far doesn't have a great deal to offer me.

We now have three different people posting three links to the FCC
site, and only the first one (by mhw) works for others, since the site
needs the session info of the search. Use that, or just do an FCC ID
search on the site yourself (grantee code: BV5, product code: BEOLIT12).
To me, it does have an obvious resemblance to the old Beolits - not the colouradios, but the earlier '60s. The linked pic in the original post somehow manages to totally ruin it (and what did they do with the handle?).
Hope this is enough linking to those documents, let's wait for some new information

i followed that link and looked at the gallery of photos at the bottom and I think it has been designed by the guy who last worked on the well known B&O ELECTRIC SHAVER !!
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

As David lewis said : " it is not important to me that people liked my designs, as long as they were not indifferent to them "
Anyway, like all new B&O product, a picture give us a first opinion, but we must see it "in flesh"

I still think they are not production photos. That's a demo unit sent to pass regulations.
Why? It has unfinished parts, rough edges and so on. It's just a functioning unit sent for clearance purposes.
There aren't even any controls on the top :)

I hope this is not even a photo of the real thing, it looks ugly as hell!

Raeuber: The Beosound 9000 looked like a product of the next century, the Beolit 12 of the last century!
Agreed, but maybe that was B&O's plan for this device. Produce something that supports all the latest features (AirPlay etc), yet make it look like something from the 90s. There's a bit of an anti-cool feeling to this product.
As I said above though, these photos are not the finished product. They are mockups presented to get CE clearance etc etc. Functional mockups.
I wasn't a fan when I first saw the BS8. In fact, I was quite vocal about it's looks. Ok, it's not the best designed B&O product that I've owned, but it's grown on me since I saw the original photos. The Beolit 12 may do the same on release.
