Glass control panel on 9000 unit

I have had (very happily) my 9000 unit for some 20 odd years now, a few minor glitches fixed with no problem... however, recently I had it stored at my mothers place in uk before shipping here to canada and when It arrived I notice that the glass control panel is loose.  If I juggle it around (note the extremely technical term used there... lol) I can get it to sit in position, and, in most cases use the remote to operate anyway, but I would like to reseat the glass... It seems that the adhesive has come loose between the glass and the holding brackets... can anyone give me a description of how to fix this back in place so that it will stay put... Very appreciated

Re: Glass control panel on 9000 unit

    Welcome to Beoworld.Smile

Both the upper & lower glass panels will be loose. They are held with 1mm thick double sided foam tape (6mm wide) - glazing or car trim suppliers should be able to get you some. To remove the panels along with the frames there is a phillips screw under the left hand corners of each panel, remove this & slide the whole assembly a few mm to the right & lift off. Make sure you keep the frames in the exact order for each panel as the upper & lower edges are different.

Remove the old foam tape from the frames & glass using warm soapy water followed by whatever you can find to get the sticky goo off. Meth's, IPA & acetone are all helpful but careful rubbing with your fingers after softening seems to be the best & least damaging method.

Any damaged/scratched black paint can be touched in with paint stick before applying the new foam tape. Stick the tape to the glass first, then the end pieces which will then allow you to line up the centre sections with an equal gap at each end (they don't meet in the middle).

    Chris.
