Easy ripping for computer-phobics Big Smile and working nicely!

Needs the new SW 6.05 and retails in Austria for EUR 320 including VAT.

The "slice" can be added to all existing BM/BSd 5s and can be used for all variations of
    stands or wall mountings.

I connected an external LG drive to the BS5.

It was recognized and ripped a cd, but I had choosen the wrong album tags. Now the bs5 isn't up to my standard

Does it give an option as to what format for the ripping? I hope Apple Lossless will be added in the future.

Does it ask for confirmation for the tags?

    Re: BeoSound 5 CD Rip

I think the format is automatically WMA Lossless with the same tag format than WMP.

No questions, no answers, all is automatic.

    But Vienna could confirm ?

The idea of this ripping station is:

Make ripping for an average consumer in 95% of all cases "stupid simple"

    @1 WMA Lossless only

@2 Depends on your settings for "automatic ripping" and the album

    - "Known Album" >> no further action required
starts ripping to folder "Artist"/"Album Name" and downloads/stores cover art as "folder.jpg"

    - Compilated (by myself) CDs "My Favorites"  >>  Unknown Artist/Unknown Album + date/time stamp

    - CD sold with multiple cover art in different markets  >>  let you select the cover and compare
the track list before making your choice ...

For tag editing or renaming of folders / album names / artists  / composers / ... use your "editing computer"
and the windows mediaplayer / itunes or a tag editor.

    Re: BeoSound 5 CD Rip

    Vienna,

Cover arts have good resolution or are they the same low resolution than the one when we use Windows Media Player ?

This is the only thing that annoy me on my BeoSound 5. The process to rip CD are quick and it's OK for me. But the search of covers on the Net, work in Photoshop to put the correct image size and finaly copy the file to the right directory is waste of time.

    What do you think ?

    I think we're using BM 5s WMP >> cover res.  is 9-13 KB (200/200 - 250/250)

Personally I'm using google picture to search (in the extended options I select "large"
(or larger than 300x400 if no large pics are available)

After downloading the file to the editing PC I do NOT resize or process the picture
but copy it to the appropriate BM5 folder and rename it to "folder.jpg"

Annoying, but an opened window of the good old Windows TXT-Editor, "ctrl"+"c"
and "ctrl"+"v" are helping to speed up the process ...

You might try this site, too:

    http://iart.toaos.tk/dashboard

It has all of the 600x600 cover art used on the iTunes Music Store.

I just installed the ripper, AND I LUV IT! Its fast, although the cover art has to be upgraded, no biggie. What I luv best is that I can now relax and listen on my MAIN B&O system while ripping. Definitely beats sitting at the computer!

Highly recommended! The instructions, as with all BnO instructions suck, though!

    Cool !

    What about the cabling ?

Does it use the cables of the BS5 ?

    Is it noisy ?

    Re: BeoSound 5 CD Rip

Apparently the B&O ripper does not support cabling longer than the standard 4.5m.

If,like me, you have the 9m cabling solution, is there an off the shelf CD USB drive that can be plugged locally into the BM5 and then have it operate in the same fashion as the B&O one?

    Re: BeoSound 5 CD Rip

My BS5 CD ripper is working without any problems connected with two 4,5 m (incl. repeater) and additional 2 m cable.
