Beosystem 3 vs inbuild DSS of BV8-40

    Hi guys,

I`m only a few steps away of upgrading my BV8-40 for the new 7-40 3D. On Sunday I was told buy a dealer, the DSS of the 8-40 and the DSS (Beosystem 3) of the 7-40 do not differ very much regarding sound (I like guys that do not always want to push sales). I`m not talking of connection options, only of sound-/signal quality delivered to the speaker. I though I could expect a better sound because ot the expensive Beosystem 3 instead of the inbuild DSS of the 8-40. I do not care of the other connections of the BS3, only 2 pairs of BL-speaker.

At the moment I`m using the BV8-40 with BL9 front and BL4000 rear and like to replace the BV8-40 for the BV7-40 plus the BL7.1 as center. BS4 is connected via masterlink to BV.

    Hi hotknife,

your dealer is right, I´m also quite shure you will not hear any difference if you connect p.e. your BL 9 to BV 7, BV 8 or directly to BS 4.

The sound quality depends on the Beolabs itself and the inbuild amplifiers. The sound modules of the beovisions and the audio devices are containing only a pre-amplifier.

But you will benefit from Beolab 7.1 when watching TV because it´s far better than the inbuild speakers of your BV 8-40.

    Regards

    Räuber

    Dear Raeuber,

but the 1,000,000 Dollar question for me is:

Should I/somebody invest some of my monthly paychecks to upgrade the system for another lets say 10-15%. You know, even if I trade in my BV8-40 I have to let 6k go.

I know, you can not compage both things, but today saw the new AD of SATURN, 40" Toshiba incl. DVB-tuner for € 379,00. Does somebody really have to spend 26 times of a Toshiba to receive a B&O with Samsung panel? You know what I mean.

Does somebody really have to spend 100 times of a Swatch to receive a Rolex?

Rolex is a "cheap" watch. Someone only has to invest ones, it runs and runs and runs and will keep its value, sometime you will receive double the investment (double red seadweller, double red submariner, Explorer red hand, vintage Daytona). You can pitch it cross the room and it will run.

Don't forget much improved picture quality. I have the BV8 in my kitchen and while it's a great picture, it's no way near the level of a BV7-40, particularly the forthcoming 3D model with improved panel.

I was watching a programme in HD last night on the BV8. Moved across to the BV7-40 (MKIV) in the living room and the quality was much improved. By "much improved" I mean I forgot how good the BV7-40 picture actually is, until I watch the BV8 for some time. It's that much better.

Audio from the 7.2 is better, too.
