Beovision 7-40 Mk3 to Mk5 comparison
I am contemplating selling my 7-40 Mk3 panel in exchange for a brand new Mk5 with Blu Ray(not 3d). I have see a Mk3 with a Blu Ray upgrade and i was not all that impressed, as was the dealer. I want to play Blu Ray movies.
Has anyone of experience got an opinion on the picture difference between the two. I am aware of the faster refresh rate on the Mk5, and now i am aware mine is 50 hz, it is making me aware of some stutter on some films. This is probably more me imagining things.
Thanks in advance.
A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

I had a Mk 3 7-40 running a Ps3 Blu ray which was fine and to a projector as well from the tv.
Try out a Ps3 or a stand alone Blu Ray player to see what you think before you buy another tv,you may like what you see
I sold my 7-40 for a 55.

Yes i think your right. If it wasn't so noisy, and i didn't end up playing BC2 i would have it attached

Totally agree with Bv7MK3 on this Chris. You could even try the Sony 380 which gets the most amazing reviews for both sound and vision. It's currently on sale at the big supermarkets for £99!!! Not too much to outlay, maybe you could even take it back for a refund within a day or so if you are not impressed.
Do buy a real decent HDMI cable as well like a QED (£30 upwards)

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mk3 to Mk5 comparison
Hi Chris,I have Sony s480 and 740 mkiii br the only reason bring that I can get multiregion for Sony but bo charge 100 quid to decode which I refuse to payI must admit I haven't seen too much difference in picture quality between the two although if I have to upgrade panel I would not pay an extra 2k for the internal br for the 3d panelThe internal br is rather noisy and the controls on beo4 not the most user friendlyHope it helpsVince

I've had a BV7-40 MKIII, upgraded to the BV7-40 MKIV and, later, that stopped working, so B&O gave me an even newer BV7-40 MKIV replacement. There was a reasonable difference between the two MKIVs and a considerable difference between the MKIII and MKIV. The MKIII suffered from awful black issues. It make some movies unwatchable. Too dark.
The later MKIVs and I'd assume the MKVs, are much improved. I've not bothered moving from my MKIV to a MKV as there is less of an improvement. There's a significant improvement from the III to IV.
I'd say go for it, for sure. It really is a decent upgrade, picture-wise.

I don't think it will be a huge amount. I looked in to trading in my BV7-40 MKIV for a BV10-46 recently and was surprised by how little I could get for the TV.
A BV7-40 MKIII panel on it's own might only attract a £1000-1500 value. The cost of the upgrade might end up being prohibitive as a result.

Re: Beovision 7-40 Mk3 to Mk5 comparison
Today i moved my PS3 downstairs ,and then went and bought the original 3 Star Wars movies in Blu Ray. I won't bother with an upgrade considering a cost of £4,000.
Love Star Wars in Blu Ray
