I went to 1991 to do some shopping

...except back in those days, you actually had to leave your house to buy stuff!

This morning my doorbell rang, and the mailman handed me this:

(lamp gratuitously framed in to please Jaff)

So, time to whip out the ol' Leatherman and find out what it might be. It's nice how B&O puts those arrows on the boxes so you know which side should point to the floor Embarrassed

Why, thank you! It seems I don't even need to pay for this! Smile

Whatever it is, it is surprisingly compact and light to carry a B&O logo, which actually pleases me, and I'm sure the mailman didn't mind either...

What do you know, it is an absolutely spotless Beocord 4500! Surprise

Need to put it somewhere at least temporarily, and it doesn't look that out of place on the BS6500 stack...

Four months into the move, I had conveniently carried my cassettes up to the new flat already last week. So the DIN cord goes into A.TAPE2, the power plug into a free socket, the lid opens smoothly and quietly when I touch LOAD, a Stevie Ray Vaughan recording from 1986 goes in... and it plays!

I interrupt Stevie's silky smooth Tin Pan Alley guitar mastery and exercise the functions. Some operations are slightly erratic, so I believe I need to treat the Beocord with one of Dillen's belt kits - not too surprising after 20 years in storage!

Oh dear, I think I made a fingerprint Embarrassed

It is so pretty, I had never seen any of the 4500 components in person before and I'm quite tempted to start collecting a set - but for now, the Beocord will go back to the safety of its comfy box, I'm not going to be the one to make the first scratch...

Thank you, Lee & Beoworld - and anybody still thinking about becoming a gold member, go check out what amazing stuff there is to win in this & next month's prize draws! Yes - thumbs up

Congratulation Mika. Nice BC4500 in really mint condition. Reminds me to my BS4500 packed away in a cupboard, because there are no more rooms for more Beo... Thanks for the pictures.

great pictures - wonderful to see such lovely kit in a prestine condition - better get rid of that finger print !!!

and that plug within a plug is such a neat idea !!!

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Great pictures! It's a good thing you've got it far away from me - it may turn white! :-O

Just for the record - it's Mint because it's new old stock.  This thing has never been used - it sat in a dealers stock room for 20 years, untouched!

Great photo thread Mika - I wish everyone did that. Smile

My BC4500 will try to eat the occasional tape.  Believe it or not, I prefer my BC2400 sound-wise, but the 4500 is gorgeous.

Congratulations again. If you do indeed perform a Dillen belt surgery, please let us know how it went.  I may have to copy you if the tape-eating would be helped.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

The 4500 series is very pretty! The mirror finish is a bit impossible to keep clean, though. Better keep it in the box! Laughing

In case you are serious about the 4500 series, I got a Beomaster 4500 + Beogram CD4500 which don't have any use at the moment. Unfortunately not even close to the prettyness of your BC!

OMG what an amazing system! Wow Bang&Olufsen was awesome in those days. That is the design that really captivated me.

I loved B&O back then.  I havnt been drawn to BC2 or BS4 or BS5 but the BS8 has found a place in my heart.

Lovely pix guys - awesome in fact  hope you njoy :)
