1. How would you describe Bang&Olufsen cuntomers?
Quite alike apple customers...
want good quality
- manufactured pieces has to be very high quality, i.e. no color deviations on cabinet,
- ease of use, this is a main concern for B&O
in one review the summary was "the hardest thing was to connect the power cord"
- with the above two, good sound quality
2. The following five factors, could you please put them in order as
the first one being the most important to Bang&Olufsen customers and
the last one being relatively the least important. Design(Style)
Sound quality User experience Bang&Olufsen brand The
quality of the products
I will do two lists, one for B&O customers
1. User experience
2. Quality of product (these two actually should share first place)
3. Sound quality
the biggest sound laboratorium is in Struer (The Cube) which other hifi manufacturers use
4. Design/Style
5. The Bang & Olufsen Brand comes from all of the above, weaved together
Second list, how other people do believe the brand is targeted
1. Design / Style ---" It's just design, not good sound"
2. Bang&Olufsen brand "it's just a name on the product and it costs $ but doesn't add"
3. User experience "yes it actually can be nice to use, but still to expensive... and no good sound"
4. Quality of product
5. Sound quality - see #1 on this list, people think it's just design...
But B&O actually has placed a large number of patents on the market, that other hifi manufacturers use
See ICE-Power that for example Bowers & Wilkins use and are proud of....
3. Can you describe how you felt the first time you have ever seen a Bang&Olufsen product, in one sentence?
Futuristic yet still at the same time classical
4. Why do you think the customers chosen Bang&Olufsen rather than other manufacturers?
Ease of use, a product that works together, ease of setup, good quality
5. Give a score of 1 to 10 as one being the least important and 10
being the most important, how important do you think design is to
Bang&Olufsen?
I would say two areas...
- Design in terms of usability and user experience - 10
- Design of of quality of sound and - 9
- Desgin as we usually think of it, 8
Why I say an 8, is that the two first ones are so important...
Read the history of the DVD player on BeoVision 7... the focus was user experience, and yes led to design
Read the history of BeoLab 5, and the Sausaulito (how do I spell that) lens for spreading the sound... it was Sas Audio that actually dictated how the lens design should be, and B&O had to obey and compromise on that...
That was my two cents...
Best Regards, Lars
