Beocenter 2200 turntable motor problem - can anyone help?

    Hi,

I recently got my Beocenter 2200 out of storage - I've finally moved into a house big enough to set it up and use it!

At first the turntable motor was stuck - when I pressed 'phono' it would try to start (you could hear the motor buzz/hum) but the turntable wouldn't move. I took the Beocenter apart and gave the motor a little twist to help it along. It worked, in that the motor now happily powers the turntable, but it now makes a continuous clicking sound when it is playing. I'm almost certain the clicking sound is coming from the motor.

I've put a video of the problem on youtube - you can hear the clicking noise:

Can anyone advise me what to do? Have I damaged the motor? Can I replace it? Can I even get a replacement motor? Is that a horrible job?

I'm happy enough taking the machine apart to clean it and replace belts, but my electrical skills aren't up to much.

Thanks in advance for your help.

From the noise it seems that the motor "NOZZLE" is touching on the motor body. Check the motor.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply Eugenio. I've had a closer look at the motor assembly. The spindle on the motor isn't touching anything, the noise seems to be coming from inside the motor itself. I've put a video here:

I'm assuming that I'm going to need a new motor assembly, including the little circuit board and wires that are attached to it, from a scavenged Beocenter 2200. I don't suppose anybody has one for sale? I know it's not supposed to be one of the finest B&O's out there, but I love the thing!

    Thanks,

    Mat

wow! it seems to be a magnet detached from the external body. I don't have the spare part but often appears on ebay.

Remeber that all B&O pieces are B&O.  :)

    ciao ciao

This is a generic motor which was used on all B&O Beogram decks of the 1800/2000/5000/RX derivatives of the mid 1980's up to the last of the tangential trackers.

They do appear on ebay very occasionally when someone parts out a broken turntable.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
