Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
Roger:
The new catalogue was shipped this week from Struer - anyone seen it?
Roger
Interesting, my dealer said November for the new catalogue. Does it ship in certain countries (ie. Denmark) before others?

Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
The new catalogue did not provide us with any new products, barely removed some of the obsolete ones (like the BV8). A few new photos, and the 4-85 on the cover plus sections devoted to Aston Martin Rapide, the Audi A6, the BMW 6-series and the MB S-Class.
But, as always, a very pretty catalogue.

Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
Picked it up today with a BeoLab 11.
The catalogue is, in my opinion, only a re-print of the 2010-2011 version: old news.
From a marketing point of view, it makes me wonder why B&O publishes a new catalogue, which is expensive to produce (it's a quality publication down to the paper it's printed on, and available in many language versions), and does not utilize it as a media to introduce new products. It would be the perfect place to give people the incentive to combine existing and new products to expand their systems, and to greate a high demand for new products.
After all, many of us, myself included, look forward to enjoying the new catalogue year after year. My collection of B&O catalogues dates back over 20 years, with rarer product-specific publications included ("Time for another great performance", as a good example), and I value the collection.
It's a let-down that this major B&O publication does not include any novelties. Comparing the catalogue of 2010-2011 to the 2011-2012 version, it gives the impression that there have been no new products in a period of 2 years (which, of course, is not the case). B&O are definitely not taking advantage of the opportunity a new catalogue provides. The product launches and the marketing cycle are not in sync.
I would love to see something new in each new catalogue; a product or products to look forward to having in the near future. Now it's like they're selling old stock, especially given that most of us here at BeoWorld know something about the new products coming in the next 2 - 12 months -- in the period which the new catalogue is supposed to cover, but does not.
I think B&O should try to match the timing of product launches and the release of each main catalogue way better than this. Does product development not communicate and coordinate with marketing within B&O? It's a huge missed opportunity.

Pardon? Why? One of the reasons my dealer said the catalogue was delayer was due to them adding the new products in time for the Christmas period/Q4! Which makes sense. A lot of sense.
I've seen a lot of (new) customers walk in to the store, have a quick look around and walk out with a catalogue. It's an important and compelling part of the sales process.
Disappointed about this. Maybe the shake-up of B&O isn't quite as wide or comprehensive as we expected? Or, more likely, they made some of the catalogue staff redundant.

Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
Same business as usual! Year after year you pick up the new catalogue and hope that it includes some news. Often disappointed, the same stuff you already know! Sometimes you even ask the dealer about the catalogue, does it include all products in the next season? Yes! As a Beoworlder you know it´s not true. Sometimes news are revealed shortly after. Doesn´t make sense at all.

I did not get your point about the delay, Moxxey, as there are no new products in the new catalogue for Q4 of this calendar year, nor B&O's current fiscal year... 2011-2012 catalogue has the same products as 2010-2011 catalogue. So whatever comes before Christmas (or in the spring/summer 2012), it is not promoted in this catalogue.

Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
Quite ridiculous just 2 months before Christmas, especially given some of the rumours of forthcoming products.
Catalogue with new products.
Said products arrive a month later to an adoring press.
Christmas.
Profit.
If i was a major shareholder..............
A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

My post was very clear. My point is that the catalogue was supposed to contain the new products and was "delayed" from August/September to October/November so to include them.
I don't see the point of releasing a new catalogue only to include the products from the previous year. If you think there's a point to the release, fair enough. Clearly you have more faith in the marketing than I do.

Ah, so you mean B&O failed to include the products they were going to include by delaying the catalogue? That's unfortunate. I think you misunderstood me: I don't think there was much point to the new release (just new images, slightly revised texts), which was the cause for my disappointment, and the point of my original post.
Love the BeoLab 11, though, and I do look forward to the yet un-announced new launches!

Re: New Catalogue 2011/2012
Maybe the new products are delayed to next spring? I asked a dealer today and he told me that there are no new products this autumn. They will arrive next year and this is the reason for the missing news in the catalogue. But november is often the month new things comes....

Beofan2: But november is often the month new things comes....
Recently there have been discussions in this forum about a differently named SUB brand and some new entry level products ...
Maybe it's just the catalogue for all producs of the MAIN brand that has been released now ...

Yes Vienna, BeoPlay will be launched next month. Looking forward! But if all mentioned new main products are going to be released in Q3 / Q4 it´s going to be quite busy! BL12, BV11, BV12 and BS8 air......

The new iPod dock BS3 big brother is out Q4 as I saw a photo of it today. Looks ok. Leather handle, square, aimed at the ROBERTS buying public!

If so ...*g* ... we'll just have to wait for the official release to see which products will be announced beeing "SUB". Adding two and two will tell which new products can be expected for the MAIN line during 2012.

this wierd ... I actually think that looks quite charming ... perhaps I have been spending too much time in the Vintage threads ?
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Ian: I've got a bet with my local dealer that no new products will be available to take home before Christmas. How safe is my money?
Not safe. That Roberts-style dock device is already on the B&O internal newsletter for launch Q4. So, it's on it's way and dealers have been informed.

Let's hope both Q4s will offer new products Calendar Q4 - intro of the new SUB brand without new product? very unlikely! B&O fiscal Q4 - could be a good time to update the BRAND catalogue for second half of 2012
... anyway, for your bet it will be very likely a choice between Scylla and Charybdis *g*
