    Beosound Century to mp3

Hi everyone. Dumbo question, I know but wires have never been my strong point.  I have a much beloved Beosound Century (bought new some 15 years ago and with a replacement CD mechanism from around 2000) and now we're definitely in the mp3 age, I'd like to connect my mp3 player through it.  I get the feeling this is possible through the aux socket.  But, I also get the feeling that it's a 7 pin aux socket (I should say that the light's not good where it lives, and my eyesight is worse) and I can't find anyone to sell me a 7 pin din to 3.5mm jack.  Although 5 pin seems to be feasible - but will this work?

I am quite possibly missing the point - as I say, wires are not really my thing.  But if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful!

Hi George.  I would suggest looking here http://soundsheavenly.co.uk/default.htm.  They can make one for you.

Oh sorry, I probably should have said.  I'm not used to the global-ness of the web!  I'm in the UK, so not particularly adjacent I'm afraid!

I should perhaps add that having now peered at the back of the Century with a torch, it's definitely a 7 pin din.

You can either buy the original B&O "Cable 7pin DIN/JACK, 3m" item # 6277956 for approx EUR 15
from your B&O dealer or order, as already suggested, a cable from "Sounds Heavenly"

You only really need a 5 pin DIN to 3.5 mm stereo jack (the other 2 pins are for Datalink remote signals). It has to wired correctly though & Steve @ Soundsheavenly will make sure of this.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Many thanks for all your help everyone.  I've heard from Steve at soundsheavenly, and he has, as you said he would, helped. I await my cable with eager anticipation.

Thanks for helping me with my problem. Much appreciated.
