    BS3200 system and Beolab options

I have a BS3200 system that is current not being used (my speakers are hooked up to something else) and I have been looking for new speakers - possiblely for my bedroom/office.... I like the BL4000 - but there are many BL2500 on ebay at reasonable prices.  I am not sure I want to spend over $US1,000 for a pair of 4000's or more for the Lab3 - unless someone can talk me into something?  Any thoughts?  How do the 2500's look with the 3200?  I cant find good pictures (many of BS2500's but not 3200).

    thanks

    Hiya Michael,

The 4000s would look great but i imagine the later 2500s with the aluminium frets should look pretty good!

if you google the BeoSystem 2500, I think you'll see your 3200 with a tape deck look quite nice next to the 2500's :)

But how does each sound?  The BL4000s are much more expensive and they appear to be a much more complete "louspeaker"

I'm going to be candid here - I think the 2500s are rubbish! Pay the extra and go for a pair of lab 4000s. :)

Yep, the 4000s are much better by far but my 2500s didn't sound too bad...better than Beolab 4s!  Wasn't they similar setups to the speakers used in the Avant TV?

It is something you really need to listen too to be absolutely sure. Smile

of course the 4k's sound better as they are naturally higher in the speaker chain. For an office setup and casual listening and the right price, I would not be unhappy with a pair of 2.5k's. A quick search on the site in the US will find you a pair of 4k's in your budget as well.

If you are going to use this system for anything else than casual listening avoid the Beolab 4's. I wouldn't say the Beolab 2500's are rubbish, but the Beolab 4000's are much better. The 2500's will look good with a Beosound 3200, though. If you can afford it, get the Beolab 3's, they sound bigger than they are.

I am not a big fan of the look of the BL3.  How much better are the 4000 vs 2500?
