    Value of White Beosystem 6500?

    Hi guys, my uncle is an avid B&O purchaser but he feels its time to move on one of his pieces

    it is a complete white beosystem 6500

    The only thing is the record needle needs replacing

    Any ideas what the system is worth and what he should look at getting for it? looking to upgrade or maybe trade

    Thanks guys

    My guess is that you've probably had an email or 2 making you an offer!

    All depends if there's any scratches and marks on any of the fronts or on the MCP and top of the turntable... If it's near mint / extremely good condition I would consider getting the stylus retipped by Axel (do a forum search for details). Values have dropped in the last 12 months but if it is near mint with new stylus then I would hope for £1,000, but you may have to be prepared to accept £800.. If you put it on ebay take lots of good quality close up photos so people know what they're bidding on.

    Good luck!

    Cheers

    thank you for the reply buddy

    So there is someone on here who can repair the stylus??? thats his main reason for looking to sell tbh, we cant find anywhere to replace the stylus :(

    If he can get it fixed he'd probably keep it!

    And in the US there are two places to retip, one of which sells new cartridges for your deck, and there are ALWAYS used cartridges for sale on Ebay.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

    Don't bother even thinking about buying a used cartridge or even a so callled "new old stock" one. Chances are the suspension will have gone or will be about to go in all of them.

    Soundsmith in the USA sell brand new hand made ones. I have a SMMC4 from them and it is as good as any B&O orignal & better than most.

    Chris.
