Beomaster 2400-2 will not stay in stereo mode.

Have a Beomaster 2400-2. When first switched on the unit works fine but after a while ( 1/2 hour) it goes off the station onto the 3rd preset and will not play in stereo. If the stereo button is switched off it plays fine in mono. Is this an easy fix does anyone know? Thanks.

Sounds like a classic capacitor issue! These receivers use the notorious red capacitors - excellent at the time but they become leaky with age and the variance causes a host of interesting issues. Dillen on site can get you a capacitor replacement kit - if you are good at soldering, a relatively simple fix, though taking apart these devices, or more accurately putting them back together, is not for the faint hearted!

I did my BM 2400, check here and after 6 months again here read both threads before doing anything, remember to order trimmers and lamp kit, not only caps, and before dismanteling check the balance, bass and treble sliders for noice or fall outs. I also changed the Power bridge (15V supply) with a selfmade bigger one, the old one got hot.
