    Beolink wireless has been updated

Beolink wireless has been updated to SW 2,0

Now it's possible to connect most of B&O link TV's wireless to ml, no need for ml cable only the Ariel cable Smile  and don't need an Ir eye for bl3500 anymore.

It's only possible to connect 1 unit pr wireless

It won't work with beolink converter or BL video so no go for old mx and lx TV's.

And not between Master audio and video

Are you suggesting that the new wireless is now letting us sind video wirelessly?

No, he is not suggesting that Video is now wireless, just that you now have full (or nearly full) Masterlink control which you previously did not.

The picture isn't carried by the B&O cabling, it's carried through your aerial system. The Wireless only handles the B&O cabling.

I still wonder why B&O can't upgrade the Masterlink cable to handle video signals, it would make our lives so much easier!

There are still 9 wires unused in the Masterlink cable, clearly it must be possible to have video RGB outputs, if not digital outputs..that would allow integration of other TVs with only 1 Masterlink cable instead of Masterlink + aerial. And the Wireless solution would be 100% wireless too! All other manufacturers of wireless systems offer this (sending a composite signal only), at a fraction of the price, why can't B&O?

Besides, I find B&O really uses 10% of BeoLink Wireless capabilities: when will they integrate the wireless transmitter in the audio/video masters, and the receivers in the BeoLink products? BeoLab 3500 is the only BeoLink speaker, it could have had a wireless receiver built-in, if ICE amps had been used to reduce the volume of the amps (like in the new BeoLab 4000). Instead of that B&O decided to offer...new colours!

Finally, the external wireless receiver has no hands-on controls, no built-in infra-red receiver, no display (really useful in link rooms since there is no more 2-way communication on the remotes), and eventually you get more cables around than with a Masterlink solution..

    Reunion Island is greeting you!

They could, but RF is useful for connecting non B&O TVs to BeoLink as well. With increasing screen sizes, and HD becoming the norm, they can't stick with RF for that long...

RF is a bit dodgy over the household wireless receivers (despite travelling miles through the air to your house), and it would be even worse with RGB or Component.

BeoLink Wireless is great, but it's wireless. What is the advantage of wireless bar the fact you don't have to get an installer round? It really offers very little advantage in terms of functionality, if any at all, and just decreases performance/reliability.

Set up properly, Wireless can let you transmit digital information from source to loudspeakers/screens -- while also letting you control it all through the network, without any loss of performance. I'd say that being able to control and select your sources with ease, over that network, adds functionality ...

Let's hope B&O extends the capabilities of their wireless solutions.

Sorry, that's not correct. The cable itself has less wires than the connector has pins, so all wires of the cables (besides the ML sense) are used.

If we are going to be totally correct with the Materlink wiring/plug, then the masterlink socket actually has 5 connector pins spare on a modern B&O product. All wires are used in the B&O standard cable, remembering that pins 9 & 10 are used in the product, but are NOT wired to the Masterlink cable.

Re: Beolink wireless has been updated

So any news regarding wireless1? Because i will probabely buy it in the near future to have sound in my office room too, and running cables would be really complicated. So i thought that wireless1 would be a nice thing. But i also don't want to buy it and then some weeks later the version 2 comes out

And what about the box contents, is a ir eye with every Wireless1 or do i have to buy them seperately?

The WL1 is good and see no reason for them to make a 2, Ir eye is not included. Smile

Thanks Stig, so no new version around the corner then.

How about the master link thing? Is that now fixed? I mean is wireless now transmiting the masterlink signal? Because what i read is, that WL1 is actually nothing else than a powerlink transmitter, so no masterlink information is transmitted. Does this mean no timers etc.?

Re: Beolink wireless has been updated

To be clear, the Beolink Wireless 1 Mark I can be updated to Mark II with just a software update.

After the software update, you will have fully functionality (well almost) in the same way as a wired Masterlink.

Thanks Keith, this is great news.

So when it is the same like masterlink, then i can really use it i think. You were saying "almost" but i surpose this does not mean any "big" functions don't work?

And i also surpose that when i buy a WL1 now, then i get a Mark II.

Re: Beolink wireless has been updated

Given that B&O have announced the Mark II version I expect that you will get it with the version 2.0 software already installed, but if for some reason it is not already updated to version 2.0 it would only take your dealer a few minutes to update it themselves.

All the functions you would expect to work including using a link TV should work fine, but apparently you cannot set options 2 & 3 which for almost everyone is unlikely to be an issue.

    Regards Keith....

Thanks! Looks like WL1 is perfect for me then

And i will just ask my dealer if it is MkI or II, and if it's I ask him to make the update.

I am not afraid of interference, no. I will see if it works, if it doesn't, then i have to find a different solution.
