With regards to the Beo5, did I read correctly that it is able to learn commands from other remote controls? Does this mean that it also has a "normal" infred diode? If so this will mean I can finally say good buy to my Apple remote.

The BeoSystem 3 is having the Apple Remote added to it's remote control commands list I believe, so yes you could kind of say you can lose the Apple Remote.

Where did you hear about System 3 being upgraded with Apple Remote?

Do you think the STB-C will be upgraded as well?

Alex (the other one, not me) mentioned it on the old forum. I hope the STB-C IS upgraded, it would really show that B&O is thinking about customers with older sets as well as the BV7 etc, not just the BeoSystem 3.

This would probably offer control in link rooms! Big Smile

    No!

    Yes!
From the way it's been described to me, the Beo5 will have a PUC just like the BeoSystem 3, BeoVision 9 and BeoVision 7 for customization using a computer.  It will not have the ability to LEARN specific IR commands ... not yet at least.  The good thing is th at B&O is making a real big effort to include any products that customers request, so if a particular device you would like to be able to control is not in the PUC you should be able to request it and expect to see it added in a reasonable time frame.

I'm going to have a hands on session with the remote next month ... I'm sure someone will beat me to the latest and greatest info, but I'll still be able to discuss what I learn at that point!

I think they will never ever give their customers the opportunity to freely select any unit of other brands by simply offering a programmable remote. That would be totally against everything they believe in and the brand stands for and -much more important- would painfully crash the sales of already weak products like dvd1 or hdr1 in the past or hdr2 in the present.
By the way: Can somebody explain the difference between peripheral-unit-controller and set-top-box-controller?! Is it just a fancy new name for the same thing (and to cover the embarrassing fact of the absence of dvb-t) or is there really a functional difference?

    Thanks + Regards, beoberlin

I believe end of the Summer / Autumn. Although we saw the Beo5 at Struer we were asked not to take or publish pictures which we agreed to do.

    Hope that helps a little,

    cheers,

There's this place called BeoWorld that has a product section, but you need to leave the forum to find it.I think it would be nice if the Products link was up at the orange bar, here as well. Cool

Ah, that must mean you have yet to enjoy the incredible versatility of Salling Clicker? Install clicker in your Bluetooth or wireless enabled phone or PDA and off you go. The world's best multi-function remote - for lots of different devices and software, and it does phone calls and e-mail, too.

Hi Soundproof. I don't have this problem. When I open Beoworld home page I don't sign in. I click forums and a new window opens. I then sign in in this new window. If you keep the new window just below the homepage one, you can see the orange bar all the time and readily click between the two.Geeked

Hi Andy, I wasn't being clear. I am signed in, and all. But when I'm in the forum, I only get HOME BLOGS FORUMS PHOTOS at the top,in the orange bar. To get the full bar of www.beoworld.org - I have to leave the forum. I think having products in the forum bar would be nice - makes it quicker to get to them, if one wants to link to products.

I think what's bothering Soundproof is that the links available at www.beoworld.org aren't there when you read the forum, unless you have two windows open, which might be annoying to some. But there might be a solution! It's called Alt-Tab (or Ctrl-Tab, when using tabbed browsing). Wink

Apple remote is already available with the latest IR table generator.

I installed a BS3 with Apple Tv and the control over it is just perfect with the beo4.

    >>control over it is just perfect with the beo4.<<

Does it do fast scrolling? I.e. if you hold the buttons down on the apple remote.

    Thanks

Will it be able to control a 3rd party light dimmer with the absence of the LC2 in the product range?
