I have a Beolink 7000 remote which appears to work now that I have replaced the battery pack.

I say appears to work because the blue light is out on the upper display/keyboard.

The legends can just be seen on careful inspection and the remote seems to function as it should.

Anyone help?

The backlight is an electroluminescent panel in BL7000, and they can stop working. Check for ~120V AC at the two wires which feed the backlight sheet. If the voltage is present, then the EL material has failed.

It can be purchased either from RS or from china via ebay, or elsewhere.

The sheet is cut to size, and the display comes apart easily enough to allow the old backlight sheet to be replaced. Just be patient, take your time and be careful not to get any dust in there!

No 120v present so will investigate on the lower board under the polished panel.

Die_Bogener has told me that there are some transistors and a couple of diodes associated with the inverter which will need looking at.

Here are the transistors, the three mounted on the alumenum cooler. The mid one is for the powersupply of the cpu, the outer ones for the 110V AC supply.
