BV6-26 or BV8-26 at same price: Which one to take?

    Dear all,

I am looking for a link room TV in size of 26" to max 32", In this room (my saunarium) I have masterlink and SAT socket. I want a TVset but no other audio equipment. THis means the TV needs to give also good audio reprocessing from my ML sources. I have a BV8-32 and think its audio output is fair enough.

Now I have two offers from used TVs:

    1. BV6-26 (non HD) from 2005 with DVB-S + Dss Module fittet. Nice set which does not need any other device to meet my requirements. The only thing bothering me is the difficulty to add a HD source as Apple TV later on.
    2. BV8-26 from 2008 with System (ML) module. I would need to add an external SAT Receiver.

Both do cost quite the same amount of money. They would be mounted on a wall bracket. Please help me with some ideas to make a good decision.

    Thanks,

    Heribert

    Heribert,

The Apple TV can easily output 720p to the BV6. No problem there. The BV6 is HD-ready (=720p).

I think the BV6 looks better on a wall bracket than the BV8. BV6 has a glass contrast screen as well, easier to clean in a 'saunarium'.

The one I got offered is not. Would not be an issue for now as HD pictures are not needed for a 26" TV. But lacks in possibilities in the future...

This thread coming up is quite a coincidence, as I was just about to ask opinions on a BV6 v. BV8 in terms of which is the better set to have....?

Any opinions and/or experiences would be helpful, thanks

We have an 8-32 in white on the bedroom wall which looks cool although does tend to protrude a little due to the speaker bar. A 6-26 would probably look neater but we wanted white due to decor. We have ATV2 connected to it and love it overall.

Also have an 8-26 in white in the kitchen sat on the work top. It is a little too big to be honest but a 6-22 just didn't look right.

Hey JC that sounds awesome! It's a very smart box to look at too. I think it would work amazing with my white MacBook.

TV wise, im going to wait to see if Tue releases some entry level products - like a tv version of the BS8!   I love the BV10-32 but really couldnt face the price! Holidays, designer clothes, bodybuilding supplements, jet ski and mountain bikes :) have to come out of the same income :)

Re: BV6-26 or BV8-26 at same price: Which one to take?

I could not believe the size of the box, I expected something twice the size. Shame it doesn't come in white though!! We have a Mac and macBook and it is seemless, although I have read a few forums where there are problems with the wireless!

I too love the BV10 range and probably would have gone with it had the 32 been available when we got the the BV8, much neater on the wall. I concur with the bugdet stuff pal, I love my clothes, watches, tennis rackets, golf clubs, cars, etc', etc'Smile

Ha, i was just thinking how amazing ATV2 would look in white! B&O were certainly late with the intro of the BV10-32  does look amazing though!

Yep im needing a new watch - Im loving the Omega Seamaster with the orange rim. Paul Smith suits with Dolce&Gabbana Martini white shirts are my weakness! lol

I like Yorkshire, my first ever job was at Kiss 105 radio in Joseph's Well, Leeds at the end of the 90s - great fun!

Yorkshire is great mate but always bloody raining!! Just 10 mins from Leeds which is a great city now with some great shops and resteraunts.

I have an Omega Seamaster GMT and love it to bits, I think value for money wise Omega is a superb choice. Love Paul Smith myself and Prada shirts a superb fit if a little expensive . I did the bodybuilding thing many years ago Paul, found it hard to find nice gear though. Must be even harder now with the skinny fit fashion??

Maybe check the Apple again to see if white has been launched.

Aren't we a little off topic now?

What about pros and cons of the two TV Sets?

FYI in the UK you can now buy a BeoVision 6 26 chassis with 2 HDMI brand new with a Beo4 1710 for £2500.00. Only 225 units available and IMHO a better buy overall than the BroVision 8. A true B&O product without the body building supplements lol

If you take a look at the title and the first few entries on this thread you will see that the subject of it is BV6 or BV8...

It's actually not about ur likes and dislikes, bodybuilding ***, where u used to work in Leeds, which watches you like.....or even, the fact that you love the BV10 tv...

    ......It's about the comparison between a BV6 and a BV8...!!

If you wanna talk about the things you like ~ why not start ur own thread about those things ffs..?Confused

well... back on topic (though the diversion was interesting as I love Prada myself, though more of a TAG man, Omega isnt my thing!!!!  LOL)

I have both a BV8 and BV6 TV. The BV6 is in a link room, the BV8 40 in my living room.

Essentially the BV6 is used as a second pair of speakers for music upstairs...

In my view both offer a great picture, the sound on the BV8 is probably better as its a 40" and has bigger speakers. Given the technology updates, id prob buy the BV8, its a good all round tv/sound unit.

    Hope that helps?

    Best Wishes

What about the picture quality of BV8-26 vs BV6-26? Are they the same video engine? What about the contrast screen vs the contrast coating.

I am having a BV8-40 and BV8-32 and I am happy with the picture, but never compared it to a BV6-26 (out of 2005!) Is the BV8-26 very similar to the BV8-32? I know the BV8-40 is quite different from BV8-32 (but mainly from Audio or connection side)..

    Heribert:
    In this room (my saunarium)

Pardon my ignorance here, but is any TV safe in a sauna/ steamroom?

Reading other posts and descriptions on 'Lifestyle' I get the impression that the BV6 has fabric speaker covers/frets, and that the cases of some BV8's are prone to discolour. So that seems like a whole lot of reasons not to use either of these models in a saunarium.

Whichever set is chosen it is going to fry in a sauna and the humidity will kill it! Use an aquavision with a BeoLink Passive that can be hidden away along with the IR receiver if used an a MLGW

I need to correct myself. I call it Saunarium but it is not in the Sauna itself (with high temp & humidity). It is in the relax room next to it with normal temp and humidity. So this is no issue - I had a Toshiba LCD there for 3 years without any problems.

The 6 to me looks sleek and sexy , the 8 has always looked cheap with that horrible line up the side and the simply weird speaker dust trap at the bottom.

I'd go as far as saying the 8 is the worst current bno design.
