    Price for Beocentre 2500

    Hi, All.

I am considering selling my Beocentre 2500 as it has been sitting in storage for the past few years.  Is it worth selling or should I hold on to it as a collectible classic in the far distant future?  I heard that the market prices for B&O products have fallen.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am selling only the Beocentre with its cable tidy.  No speakers, no remote, no cables.

    Thanks.

It's such a beautiful, iconic piece that I feel it's value to someone who loves B&O is worth more than it's market price. Also, if it's in great condition, it seems a shame to risk the damage that could befall it in shipping. The BeoCenter 2300 was my first B&O stereo. I replaced it with the classic BeoSystem 4500, which I later replaced with the BeoCenter 2, which I later replaced with the BeoSound 5. Through all of these transitions, I always held onto my BeoCenter 2300. It now has a place in my law office -- so I can enjoy B&O both at home and at work.

It can be very easy to come across affordable Beolab 2500 speakers to create the matched look. Your BeoCenter 2500 would be ideal to hold onto for use in an office, summer home, or guest room.

Thanks, Kallasr and Beojeff for your input.

The price seems to have fallen substantially so I might hold on to the Beocentre.  I have had this with the Beolab 2500, Beolab 4000 and Beolab 6000.  Now, it is just the Beocentre by itself, sitting there unused.  People bought the speakers but not the Beocenter, despite being in great shape, serviced by B&O and still has a shipping box.

The problem is that nobody plays tapes any more and the tape drive makes the thing look old fashioned.

If it has a radial laser, B&O service will declare it obsolete, should it be necessary to send it to a service centre for repairs. As far as I am aware, the kit to replace the radial with a linear model is no longer available from B&O.

Obviously, they can still be serviced by enthusiasts but not everybody knows a suitably qualified person.

This all conspires to reduce the market prices, which will fall even lower with time.

    Regards Graham
