I have tried several times to visit B&O when we were pretty close to Struer during vacation time. Had no luck so far. So please put me on the list Lee. 

As the wether in April in DK, can be quiete nasty, may I suggest middle or end of May, May is the spring month and beautiful, dont count on me yet, I start counting my nickels.

Here my budget for 7/8 day trip to DK.

Backpacking is a lot cheaper:

Travel with backpack or carry on.

Buy a cheap ticket, (Jumper ticket with a lot of stops) USD 700.00

With a cheap ticket you will have to stay for at least 7 days.

Getting to Copenhagen, go to the Central Trainstation get out and buy a sleeping bag, 30-50 USD (or Martin can lend you one)

Before leaving get a rail road pass for DK, Scandinavian or northern Europe, USD 100-250.00 Depending on how much you want to do.

Youth Hostells (with your own sleeping bag, if you want sheets and luxury it cost more)in DK cost about USD 20.00. 7 nights is USD 140.00

Breakfast in the hostell (and eat all U can) USD 5.00 = USD 35.00, rest of the day one good meal USD 20.00 = USD 140.00.

In big cities get a map (internet), check where you want to go and buy a one day pass tourist buss ticket, normaly you can jump from buss to buss or get out and in when you want to. Where not available use local busses.

To reduce cost always look for Danish blue eyed beauties with sleeping opportunities.

Traveling around always keep money, passport and return ticket safe, and always with you.

That way you should be able to do it for some USD 1,000.00- 1.500,00

When you get to my age you will need a good hotel, a good bar and 1 class transportation, and thats what cost.

Have been in Jutland in 2009 for my work and drove to Struer on a Sunday just to see the factory.

Now this would really be an oppurtinity to see all of it and meet Beoworld members in live.

Yes, in his first post Lee states he will take name later. Now he just checked how big the interest is, and what month people would go. Last time we went around 1st of May. By the way, may I suggest a prize in the BeoWorld prize draw: One ticket with travel and accomodation paid? (Hoping a Struer member win, and not the Mexican guy ... ;-)

I did a trip like you outlined when I was young(er) ... traveled around Iceland using my sleepingbag in a toilet block, on the ground of a campsite (when it rained the operator took pity on me and loaned me a tent ), and also stayed in a youth hostel ... great adventure :)

And when we were 40ish we backpacked around Mexico using local buses and staying in pensions 

But I agree that now days a four or five star is nice, we still try to find cute (sadly not cheap) places to rest
