well it took me more than 1 hour to cut open reams of bubble pack. it was 3 boxes in total - BC9500 in one box, speakers in second, beogram and all other accessories in the 3rd. it came unscathed except for a small chip on the BC9500 flap for sockets which can be glued. all credit goes to martin (seller) and the handler who ensured that the boxes can withstand all the jolts.
well the customs did not open it and the duty levied was ~ 130 pounds. freight was 400 pounds paid in india. aint sure if the deal continues to be a bargain. i am of the view that it works out to be cheaper to book it from india.
i started testing last evening and have a few querries:
- the BC9500 powers up and plays - the cassette compartment is stuck; i also tried with my hand towards gliding it however i could not succeed. any advise on this would be a welcome
- the seller mentioned that the sticker says BL5000 but he was of the view that it is indeed BL4500. the impedence at the back also mentions 8 ohms. i am yet to measure the physical dimension parituclarly the length; if it is indeed BL4500 why would it say BL5000
- besides i try to power and hook it to BC9500 however it did not show any life. it would not power up. i am yet to try it again this evening. any guidance for the dummy would be very useful
- never exposed to turntable any guidance on the same would also be a welcome. somewhat reluctant to test before i read about it.
overall happy with the purchase. just hoping the speakers power up.
on the aside i would also like to mention that i shipped a MX4002 from lifestyle more than a year back. again i was fortunate to receive it in order. needless to mention the packaging from lee and gang. the trail then was through sea.
cheers
