On the other day, i spotted a nice Beolit 707 on the auction site. I won and waited for the nice classic item to come to my hands. The seller stated that the radio was fully working. After some days it was there. Cosmetically as described (in a very very good condition i must say). Unfortunately when it came to my hands, the radio was not working and you could hear things broken inside. I decided to make a go and try to fix it. So i thought i make a small photostory for this on the workbench.

The first finding were the 2 plastic things and a small green metal plate 2,5cm X 1,5cm that were broken.

With the help of my father and a multimeter we tried to find out were the problems were located and we did locate several. Broken main pc board, broken ferrite core grips, broken solders and worst of all broken circuit board! The last one is inside a hard metal protective casing and to find it broken at that time made me furious because the seller had lied to me. There was no possibility for this to happen during the transfer. I was furious with the seller, reluctant for the result of my work, but i wanted to try. Soldering iron, patience, screwdrivers and of course the multimeter.  

Here is the hard metal protective casing where the circuit board is housed.

It is indeed possible for the power supply circuit board to break in transport.
It carries a fairly heavy transformer and has no decent support itself.
Sometimes the transformer is knocked lose from the board.
Check also the solder joints of the regulator transistor. That's the one with
the long metal cooling blade. Its solder joints being its only support.

The broken ferrite antenna holders is also very common, even the ferrite
rod itself can break. It will all glue fine back together.
The ferrite rod will work fine even if breaks are superglued in several places since
it works magnetically rather than electrically.

Some radios have small covers over windows at the bottom of the radio, like over the
serial number etc. Maybe that's where that colored plastic thingy comes from.

Thank you Dillen for your valuable input. First i glued with silicon glue the left end and secured with <<safety strip>> the right end of the ferrite core.

Finally all was fixed, the system was up and running again and i can enjoy it. It is a real classic radio! I love it. Hope this photo thread might be helpful to some.

You may want to strengthen the board at the breaks with a
little 2-comp. epoxy or similar to avoid eventual shorts and/or more damage.
