It is indeed possible for the power supply circuit board to break in transport.
It carries a fairly heavy transformer and has no decent support itself.
Sometimes the transformer is knocked lose from the board.
Check also the solder joints of the regulator transistor. That's the one with
the long metal cooling blade. Its solder joints being its only support.
The broken ferrite antenna holders is also very common, even the ferrite
rod itself can break. It will all glue fine back together.
The ferrite rod will work fine even if breaks are superglued in several places since
it works magnetically rather than electrically.
Some radios have small covers over windows at the bottom of the radio, like over the
serial number etc. Maybe that's where that colored plastic thingy comes from.
