    Lord of the BeoRings?

Time for me to call upon the wealth of knowledge amongst you guys!

I bought this 10kt solid gold ring on eBay about 5 years ago (when gold was cheap!) - and had it in the display cabinet for a little while.  I bought it from eBay USA or Canada (i forget which) from a seller who dealt in 'oddities'.  I actually bought it for about half its scrap value at the time, so i was really pleased!

From the little research i've done, 10 carat gold is more popular in North America than anywhere else? - so I assume it originated from there.

It's clearly a very costly ring to make as the detail is amazing, but who it was made for - and why, remains a complete mystery to me.  It was suggested, once, by a customer in my shop that it was presented to the top-selling salesman in the USA and Canada in the 1970's...  but that (i fear) was pure speculation.

Anyone?  This is quite a special ring i think!

PS - A gang of Hobbits keep hanging around outside, should i be worried?

    Wonderful piece !
I've seen these rings before. They are not extremely rare but not exactly common either, I suppose many are still
kept unused in the drawer, waiting to be found by a collector.
Their - err - 'design' suggests that not many were worn daily, at least not into the late 1970's and, when found, most of
these rings are still in fine condition.
I've also heard that they were given to high value sellers but I've never met a person who could confirm it.
I guess many of these rings were sold to cash their metal value, leaving the remaining even more collectable.

With the price of gold at an all time high, i'm not surprised.

Thanks Martin - I thought it was a 'one-off' but clearly not then.  I'm sure someone here will know their full history..

Great find Lee! Don't you think it might be a signet ring? And yes, I would also assign it to the late 1970s.

PS. What is the weight of it?

Are you sure it didn't originally have three others welded along side it??Erm

Regarding the signet use... one of the knuckles will leave "B&O" on your chin, the other a skull as by The Phantom... what are the other two? Laughing

It weights 16.85 grams - i had it weighed at my local jewellers today.

In order to fund my next pointless purchase, I am now offering this ring for sale.

    £275 buys it.
