    Voltage setting: 220 or 240 (for 230 V...)?

    Good morning everyone!

I'm new here and I have a question about my "new" Beomaster 900K. On the back panel is a voltage selector with six (!) different positions. I live in Switzerland and the power supply here nowaday is "around 230 V" (from the electric company's website). I got the unit with the selctor on the 220 V position and it works fine (the transformer is bit noisy, but I guess that's normal). I'm wondering if it is better to have it on the 220 or on the 240 V setting, since it is getting almost for sure something between 225 and 235 V... It would be sad if it would break!

Thanks for your help and have a nice day,

    Marco

Good question - I asked the same some time ago:

Actually I forgot all about this and my units are still all set at 220V. I think I'll now go through them and switch to 240V where possible.

One thing that may sound stupid, but people often forget... UNPLUG FROM MAINS before touching the selector! Smile

Thanks! I didn't find the old thread when searching the forum. I've just set the Beomaster to 240 V, it sounds as good as before. The power supply here in Basel is 235 V, or at least so was it today in the morning when I checked it with a small chinese multimeter...

    Hello,

I have 234 V at my sockets (normally 220 V). The 220 V setting had my Beogram 4002 hum badly, and it became completely silent under the 240 V setting!

Another good point I haven't thought of before is that setting 220 -> 240V will also cut the standby power consumption by about 10% (for the kit that has a transformer based power supply and a standby mode instead of a mechanical on/off switch).

May sound small, but I can definitely see the time I started collecting B&O in my electric bill...
