I have read both here and elsewhere that the Oppo is very highly regarded.

Is there PUC available for it?

there is one for the Oppo DV981, but I don't know if it works with the BR.

Though I programmed my Beo5 so that it can control my BDP-83 directly (no PUC nessessary)

edit:

looking at the IR-codes many are the same for the DV981 and the BDP-83 so the PUC will presumably work
