Call me Mr suspicious if you like but to me it looks like a cheap way hiding bad cabinet scratches & making them out to be something special. I hate to admit it Nigel but you're probably right - they're likely to sell however hideous they are.

$5 can of spray paint.  The Second Ex Mrs. Rich used to do that to stuff all the time.

This isn't a thumbs down to the company - just to the horrible paint job done on this particular set of speakers.

I see you have gone ahead with the £550 spend anyway.

The seller has obviously chosen the easy way to hide some bad scratches - buy a can of "stone effect" paint. No - thumbs down
If you want to paint them with a glossy paint, the surface must be smooth, which can require a lot of work -you have to sand the surface and then paint, etc.

I once bought a set of badly damaged alu C 30's with lots of scratches. I sanded the surfaces and afterwards i gave it some "Caustic Soda" dissolved in water (Sodium hydroxide) to harden the surface. It looks very close to the original finish. I think it's better than some clear lacquer.

    Re: WHY OH WHY OH....

    Hi JONNIE

I don't think this is a bad company at all - they're a top rated ebay seller so they've got a lot of satisfied customers - look at their feedback. Some of their items are overpriced, but I don't think these are. They've been up front about the slight damage to one of the speakers so you know exactly what you're getting. They may be slightly more expensive than buying from a private individual, but they have a returns policy should you not be satisfied. Pay by Paypal to get the maximum buyer protection.

I am in no way connected to this seller and have not bought from them previously.

    Cheers

    Nigel
