@ ehlerz. laughing my head off!!! brilliant!
hey tournedos your welcome.....
It doesn't "still work". The Band 1 405 line transmissions ceased about 30 years ago. Neither is it the youngest - there are Baird Televisors which are older still auctioned from time to time.

What a dik...
My B&O: 2009 Catalogue and Pricelist
hey jonathon i saw the observants comments, have pity on him he is from walthamstow, says it all really........
what that oaf doesnt realise is that the auction house offering it would have had it checked and tested before even considering even valuing it.
Provenance- provenir is french for "to come from" any high end auction house will not sell anything of high value without any.
Will this still work though? I don't see how you can convert modern signal to the original signal required for this age of set. The observant at Walthamstow surely has a point - I am sure it works electrically but could you actually use it - I would suggest that this is actually slightly academic as it is clearly a museum piece.
well im sure the auction house has had it tested, but then again its a daily mail story so your guess is as good as mine!
It was indeed built for the old 405 line system, and those transmissions ceased in 1985. I'm also sure the set works if they say so, but there's no programming you could view with it. Even a Freeview box won't help with that, contrary to what the article says.
Problem solved, looked what we missed!

I believe this telly was worked on by one of the members of UK vintage tv & radio (there is a website and very good forums) and they have devices that can convert signals to the 405 line standard and even earlier system (240?)!
