    BeoLab 6000 with BeoLab 2

Does anybody use this combination? I'm intrigued with the BeoLab 2 but am concerned it may be a little boomy for my apartment. (A used BeoLab2 is the only one I can potentially afford)

If anybody has any relevant experience I'd be very interested to hear about it.

    Thanks, Jon

You can make the BL2 as boomy as you want... but you can also set it up to be rather discreet. Depends on how you set it up.

    Or... try the BL11...

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

    Jon,

before you buy a new or used BL2, ask your dealer or somebody else to pass you the BL2 for a day. Eihter you love it or you hate it.

You only could change between very limited options (there is no switch for frequency, level, bandwidth like most subwoofers). The BL2 will ruin your listening attitude for music, but for movies its a "killer".

If you love a subwoofer, better go for the PV1 from B&W (it is B&O-style) or a smaller Velodyne (microvee). Both are much better for music than the BL2.

No, the BL2 is not a bad subwoofer. But it is sometimes a bit slow and heavy and it is maybe a bit hard to adjust both for music and movies.

Exactly my concerns - it has hardly any controls and it did seem very boomy in the shop - not pleasant for music but good I can imagine for explosions in 'Terminator'.

I will check out the PV1 and Velodyne for sure - thanks alot!

    Jon,

but keep in mind, that if you do not use a  B&O subwoofer, you have use other wire.

I like my BL2. I think a lot has to do with placement and setting it up correctly. If I play music loud, I prefer to switch it off, but at normal listening levels and in a surround sound system, it is superb.

A used one is just as good as a new one! I bought one when it first launched and the current used price is the same as the launched price in 2002!

    Cheers

The BeoLab 11 works really well with Lab 6000, not to boomy, but adds a lot of much needed bottom end - and it's cheaper than Lab2!

True, and not only does it add a lot to the bottom end, it frees the 6000's to play the high-end better than they ever did. BL6000 & BL11 is a marriage made in heaven!

I agree. This is the set-up I have and in my opinion, if music, rather than films, is what you generally listen to, at least trial the BL11 to see what you think.
