    Another vintage purchase. Help me!!!!!!

I know I'm not alone in this, I think I need help from some one to cure me of this damn Beovirus!

My latest purchase comes from a badly listed ebay auction. It wasnt listed badly enough though as I still had to pay a decent amount for it (sorry if anyone else was after it) but the Box, manuals and condition made it seem worthwile to me. Its a Beolit 611FME Deluxe. It must be an early one as the serial is 800064. Also the instructions are for a Beolit TR36 but I cant seem to find any difference between TR36 and the 611 deluxe so was it just a name change? The box, manual and radio itself all have the same serial number attached to them which is nice. The lettering on the front of the case where it says "Beolit Deluxe" has faded but Im sure a fine tipped silver pen can sort that.

I very much doubt that this has seen much use at all.

Anyway enough talking, you want to see the pictures, dont you.

It also came with an article from a magazine reviewing the radio when new. I could type it up for the product description or just scan it for the site if needed along with the other bits and pieces.

Oh, and it doesnt sound too bad either.

Peter your a Doctor, can you cure a Beovirus or are you too far gone yourself.

Martin, do you know if there are any actual differences between a TR36 and a 611. They are listed as different products on here and another site but Im not so sure unless it was internal differences

That's a beauty! All I've seen of this series have been more or less marred.

What an amazing find! And it is in excellent cosmetic and working condition too! - yes auctions like this are interesting. I personally find things often go for at least 'normal' prices, and have seen things go for more! I sort of came to the conclusion that people think they have found something knowone else has, so they become more convinced it is theirs. When the price starts to increase they can't bear to let it go at this point!

Lovely set! These radios do have a wonderful yone - better I think than the later colour radios.

As far as the BeoVirus is concerned, I think I have conquered mine. I have gone from having over 100 pieces to probably low teens. Age and the fact I just wasn't using it all probably did it. The problem with old B&O is that it deteriorates if not used. I would far rather see someone else enjoying it than it just sitting around.

Oh beaker...I was the bidder who bid £2 less than yourself... no need to apologise - that's what ebay's all about - he who wants it most will bid the most, and you also increased your max bid, so you really did want it!

It looks fantastic. Interesting comments from Peter about them sounding  better than the later Beolits...I might just go for this one

It wasn't "cheap" but it certainly is a good one. It doesn't sound as good as my bl1000 but I can't compare it to a colour radio as I have never had one. I prefer the old school look of this though. It looks old, the beolit 1000 looks as it could have been from the 80's, which is a good thing too.

Interesting! I preferred the sound of my Colour 700 to that of my 1000. The 1000 has, I believe a smaller speaker. However the old 600 I have played with had such a lovely rounded sound that this was my favourite. I am not sure about the size of speaker in that one - I imagine it is more to do with the enclosure though.

Well I'm glad it was one of us that outbid me on that one!
