    New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

    Hello Peter and Svend fans,

The new DVB-HD software is available 0.1.6.5.0.

    Will try it tonight...

BTW, untill saturday I have build 165 on my BV10-40 and I noticed that you gain approx. 10 seconds to get a DTV picture and that the game mode stays on "memory" (when you switch TV off, the game mode is still "on" if it was "on" - before build 165 you always had to put it back "on" with Playstation 3).

    That's nice.

    Cheers,

    Gregory

N.B. : I got a new screen installed because the old one made terrible cracking noises (it could have been the alu plate installed for less heat on the back and less clouds) and that new screen (new reference from samsung) still have clouding issues but of course no more cracking noises...

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

I confirm that the DVB-HD is now much faster than it was to switch on.

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

Doesn't seem to help om the start up time on my BV8 40. It still takes arround 32 seconds from i press TV till i get the curtains rolling to the side.

In comparison DVD takes arround 20 seconds.

I'm not sure if the update was correctly installed. I put the USB key in an turned on the TV and got a yellow screen for a while. Then a little later it turned green. After turning of the set and turning on again and the inserting the USB key it says no update available when trying the official update instructions.

When i check the info for the DVB module it says version 0.1.6.5 released MAR 02 11 Model 0.8.0.0

If the version info is 0.1.6.5 the upadate was successfull. But you can also check it by pressing the blue key: If you hear sound after the EPG had started, the update is ok.

The software-update of the HD-module is not responsible for the start up time. For this you need to update the firmware of your BV by your dealer.

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

Ok thanks. Will the update from the dealer make the startup faster?

    Yes!

Only the member "hotknife" in the german forum didn't recognize a faster start up time on his BV 8-40.

I'm very happy that you are getting new functionality. In the UK we don't even have a working DVB HD module. Pathetic.

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

Very happy with this update !! It fixed my problem where I couldn't rescan without having channels in two separate groups ( any single groups the tv would scan had either abc numbered wrong, or channel 7 upwards wrong). It (relatively) fixed a niggle I had had with the guide - that it wasn't populated unless I had first visited each channel - at least the update epg option on the guide page allows me to quickly populate the guide for each channel without leaving the guide.

I seem to be able to see more in the info page - I have a rating appear, and I'm sure something else (more text) but haven't been able to pin it down ..

    Overall - very happy !!

Now if b&o could make the dvb-hd turn on quicker (as a free software update) I'd be ecstatic. Still a very happy beo owner though....

One other thing - why don't b&o give more info as to whats in the update? It would give people an opportunity to decide whether they want to chance an update ...

I realize that there are many countries they operate on - but assu ing that b&o know what they are fixing , it wouldn't kill them to communicate to the customer ....

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

    Again, there's a new software available 0.1.6.6.0.

Now it takes 16 seconds to have a picture on BV10-40 with DVB-HD.

When I got my tv one year ago it took more than 44 seconds...!

With the latest software, I noticed that there's a bug after switching the mains off : when you start the tv for the first time after the mains off it takes more than 30 seconds to have a picture (and I sometimes see two B & O logo on the screen instead of one with an alterned quality).

Otherwise, after the first switch "on", it's 16 seconds again and that's great !

has anyone tried to update via Ethernet? I have 1.6.5 but it can't find an update. USB stick doesn't work... I think it does not like my USB stick!

I had a problem with transferring an excel file on a stick ... eventually I reformatted the stick and it worked ... there must have been a bad sector on the stick !!!!

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Hi

Is is not possible to update via ethernet.

This can only be done by USB.

I tried with two different USB sticks. It says OAD check, IP check all the time. Then I connected the TV with an ethernet cable and I got the message that there's no updates.

I formatted both sticks and copied the two files (.txt and .fpkg) from the zip to the root directory but nothing has changed.

    Edit:

I got it!!! Together with the USB stick and ethernet cable the BV7 updated to 0.1.66. Strange, isnt' it?

Very strange, ethernet is only for Bluray update and BD live.

Not so. I have updated the DVB-HD module several times by using only the Ethernet connection.

    Hi Ole

That cant be true. You are not able to update the DVB-HD module through ethernet on a BV 7. Yor can however update your Bluray.

Confirmed: It is not possible to update your dvb-hd module on bv 7 without having ethernet plugged in. The tv simply does not look for the USB stick unless the ethernet is plugged in.

    Haha...another FAILURE from B&O.

    /Ehlers

There must be something wrong with my BV7-MKIV then, because I have updated the DVB-HD module software at least three times during the last couple of years, using only the Internet connection.

In the setup menu I can see if there is a new version and load it by pressing the green button.

It is easy to verify that I have this latest version, as the buttons are different with the blue one for update of the program overview.

    Regards Ole

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

Installed this onto my BV10 on the weekend. No noticable difference, except that after about half an hour watching a channel, the screen goes grey, the old 'clock' makes a reappearance, the screen goes grey again, and eventually a picture reappears on a different channel - the one the television had been on when first turned on.

No such problem before the update. Surely more than coincidence?

    Anyone else experience this problem?

I'm in Australia if that is relevant...

    Re: New DVB-HD dowload on B & O page

I had that problem with my bv10 as well. I was changing channels and the clock appeared and the tv froze so I had to turn it off then on again.

I have worse problems now though; after a burning smell the tv now doesn't work at all. Back to Service....
