    僕は大丈夫です。すごく怖かった。

All is well with my but my TV, fridge and one beolab 4000 are dead.

All in all I am luck, still tracking down friends and dealing with aftershocks and translating for police and hotels in my local area as the tourists are pretty scared. Spent the night looking for baby food for a friend as people are panic buying and he only has a days worth left.

The Japanese emergency services are doing a great job and people are helping each other too.

    MAJOR MIKE;

Thank you for getting back to us. Glad to hear you are safe, but sorry to hear about the damage.

I just had the live feed news on from NHK. PM Kan is flying over Miyagi prefecture right at the moment inspecting the damage with th JDF. Japan can expect a lot of help, equipment, and support: I believe 21 nations have committed specialists and equipment thus far. The US Naval 7 th fleet is sending at least two ships, one being an aircraft carrier.

According to NHK, Haneda and Narita are still closed. Flights are being diverted elsewhere. Yokota AFB may be the evac point for tourists.

Having been through one when I was in school there, you might pick-up some water containers if they are still available. Let me know how Waseda is doing.

    私はあなたにそれ以降の話をする !

I would gladly support any fund raising initiative but in all honesty I really don't think money is the real issue here. The logistics involved must be a complete nightmare & there are dozens of emergency relief agencies on stanby awaiting the call from Japan.

The Japanese government, supported by a united nation, seem to be doing a real sterling job from what I can gather from news reports. My heart goes out to everyone affected by these horrendous occurances.

If people want to donate then donate to the Japanese red cross. Their site is super busy with people donating.

Friends and family members visiting Tokyo are thankfully safe but stranded as I write.  We are hopefull that all soon may return home and we shall do what we can to assist those who have lost everything and more.

All was quiet here in Western Japan...the thought of a quake in this beautiful country is never far from thought.

Best wishes to all for a weekend spent with those dear.

If you family are in Tokyo and looking for a place to stay, I have a spare futon that they are more than welcome to. Most hotels are over booked.

At the end money is always involved. My thoughts of fund raising would have been a good "excuse" to use BeoWORLD as a "centre of excellence" and donate to Red Cross as Mike says. Let's see what Lee has to say.

I completly agree, with that much damage where do you start? It takes a lot of logistics to move in big equipment against a tide of humanitarian problems.I have been in Tokyo when then there has been minor tremors and its a very unplesent sensation.

It would perhaps be easier just to donate individually to Japan red cross

Tricky one - I support the thought obviously but wonder who we give to. At present, I am sure the emergency services and other government disaster groups are working as hard as they can with no thought of money. The need for money will come later and no doubt there will be giving sites. Unfortunately there will also be scam sites trying to get money as well.

The problem with using BeoWorld as a conduit is that most people will give on line - this will incur costs . We then have to give electronically at cost and this will reduce the amount we give twice. Charities will in some cases have lower fees to pay so it makes more sense to give directly - as I will. I am however waiting for a suitable site to be made apparent.

The Japanese Red Cross site would appear, not surprisingly, to be down. Will try later.

    Dear Mike,

Thank you for your kind offer.  Two friends are staying with the family members that they were visiting this week in Tokyo and my lovely wife's son and his family are staying with in-laws near Haneda.

Be well, careful and safe.  The idea to store some extra water as mentioned above was well thought through.

    Respectfully,

    Robert

Edit:  Family members flew out of Haneda and will land shortly and be home later this evening.  And Mike, please keep one sharp eye on that reactor and trust your instincts.

Yes it is. AFAIK the wind is blowing the radioactive fall out to the sea, which might be an advantage under the circumstances.
