    Beogram platter height

for the modern beograms (eg, beogram 7000, 6500, 4500 etc)

is the platter supposed to be flush with the deck surface or a bit raised? i've seen pics of both examples. for my 2 cents, it would seem to make sense that it would be raised--

With pick up arm to center, the platter should be 2.5 to 3.0 Mm over top plate (deck surface)

If it wasn't, a 12 inch record would scrape on the deck surface and you could hardly grab its edges and lift it off.

    Re: Beogram platter height

I think this is one of the spoiling factors regards the looks of these decks - I appreciate there wasn't really much of an alternative to maintain the tight dimensions (I actually think they could have just about done it by moving the bearing forward though, but I bet either looks or cost was the major factor). They look so much nicer flush!

I like the BG 5000 platter design, the platter looks level, with border fazed of to deck level, and agree with Step, a bigger platter and different edge design would improve the look
