How to active TEXT with a set top box?

How is it possible to active TEXT for channels received via a set top box? I have a Dilog DT-655 HD and Beovision 8-32. The TEXT on Beo4 does nothing when watching channels from the box.

And there is not command for this i the overlay menu.

I must deactivate the text function in my set top box to be able to use the text function in my TV. Maybe it's the same for you?

I dont think your set top box is sending the text signals to the TV. That's why your TV can't find it and nothing happens when you press text on the Beo4.

    Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1

Although the feature is often called "Teletext passthrough", it is actually far from that simple - the STBs need to explicitly do stuff to have the Teletext service on the signal that comes out from them. Teletext is delivered in a completely different way over a DVB transmission that it was in the old analogue times.

Some STBs don't have a passthrough feature at all, so you have to use the Teletext function of the box itself. Then there are some that only have the passthrough, and then there are some that have both.

I have to admit I have no idea how this works if the box and the TV are connected digitally over HDMI, but it will still definitely need support from the STB.

Also, where are you located, OP? For example in the UK the digital Teletext service is implemented in a completely different standard (MHEG-5). I don't suppose that will ever work through an STB, you need to use the STB itself to view it.

Does TEXT work with original Dilog remote control? Just try all GO commands from GO - 0... GO - 9. Try also color buttons. Maybe GO long works although this is usually the GUIDE function. Or maybe GO - left, GO - right....sometimes there are a lot of commands that are not mentioned in the overlay menu.

Re: How to active TEXT with a set top box?

    A little update:

I just had a look into the Beo5 config. tool. There is no TEXT function for the DT655 mentioned, just TEXT button from Beo4. But there is no function on GO - 7...?

REW and FF are GO - color buttons, POWER is GO - 0.

But there is a TEXT button for the DT455 - it`s GO - 5, for the DT655 it`s the FAV function...

I live in Malmö in Sweden.

The Dilog DT 655 HD support Text Tv with the original remote. And yes there is a function on GO+7. This the DVR (access to recordings). GO+5 is favorites.

Here are the BEO4 command overview:
