    US BeoCom 2 in Australia

I've just bought a US BeoCom 2 from the US to add to my current phone system. I can't get it to recognise my (Mk 1, flat, rectangular) BeoLine Australian base however. I've been pressing the recessed button on the back of the BeoLine to 'open' it but to no avail.

Am I doing something wrong or is the US phone simply incompatible with the Australian system? I've bought other (corded) US phones and they work fine here.

I think this is a later version of the Beocom 2 than my existing phones, but from what I've read it should still work as long as the BeoLine has the latest version of the software, which it does.

    Hmmm...

Does anyone have any experience of this? Do the US models operate on a different frequency from those in Australia, hence my lack of success in getting it to connect? Does the handset need a software update?

I believe my Beoline is running the latest version of the software.

    Stumped!

    Tough one...

I was told never to buy phones from overseas as they won't work here, but I have a couple of UK Beocom 6000s that do work!

I wish I had an answer for you, theoretically it should work......

US cordless phones except Beocom 5 operate on 2.4 gighz. Austrailian and UK phones operate on 1.9 gighz. You have made an expensive mistake I'm afraid.

Hmmm...anyone leaving the UK or Aus for the US and would like to swap a mint condition blue BeoCom 2?

What might be the likely outcome of loading Australian BC2 software onto an American phone? Disaster? Is the transmission frequency determined by software or hardware?
