    Beomaster/CD 4500 glass panel replacement

Hi, I will shortly have the answer to the problem of the unavailability of the glass panels for the Beomaster 4500 and the CD4500.

They will be a very very close copy of the originals with all lettering, windows and fonts looking very similar indeed.

They will of course work perfectly unlike certain people who are selling just a piece of blackened glass!!!!! (Anyone can do that)

If you are interested please let me know.

    musicismoving@hotmail.com

    regards

    Barrie

That would be a pretty amazing feat!! Would also love to see one fitted. Obviously these would also fit the Beomaster/CD 3500 as well!!

Those really are a poor attempt aren't they. I saw one listed at 99p start and that's what it sold for - overpriced IMO. I won't evn start on speaker reclothing kits with double sided adhesive tape.......

    Chris.

Are you guys referring to somebody on EbayBig Smile

Using adhesive ds tape for reclothing works if you are using the right type of tape. I did a lot of CX's and it works perfect. Yesterday I did a Beolab 4 which is quite easy to do using this tape on both sides of the grill.

The front panel is original grey, just reclothed the two side panels in black! Lots of oppurtunities to do things yourself on refurbishing B&O stuff.  (sorry, bit of off-topic now)

are you planning to get your panles to opperate the unit  like the ones Quality Dream Audio sell on ebay or will they just look the part but not work ?

as i am sure your aware the touch panels will not work (even if you cant see what you are pressing but i am sure you know where the buttons are on your system) through glass unless it has been prepared with a graphite solution to conduct through the glass.

let me know how you are getting on with these as its been a long time since your post.

I bought 3 transparent glas panels, and conductive graphite paint is on its way. So that's a start. Cad drawing has been made. Laser engraving will be the nex step.....

Okay, just finished my last 6 panels for the Beomaster 4500.

Posting lots of pictures here is very time consuming since every 4 pictures I have uploaded I get this annoying "Diagnose connection problems" issue!

So just a few here of the results and the rest can be seen on my webalbum for those who are interested!

Just a peek of what I will finish next weekWhistle

All right! Yes - thumbs up These beat the black glasses by a nautical mile! Smile

Did you consider using some kind of coloured foil for the lighted areas, similar to the display windows? The result with the coloured paint seems a bit uneven at some pictures (number 22). But maybe the the photos just exaggerate it!

Yes, I know Mika, have to check why that's happening with the green (glass) paint I've been using. I'm also not satisfied about the displays.

Have been using a sort of sunfoil and I can't manage to get a smooth surface on the glasspanel. Other members advised me to use  a sort of spray (Motip) but (I think) that cannot be used on glass. It's more meant for plastic. Will try to improve the quality of these panels though.

@Martin, thank you sir, same as I admire you and lots of others giving their contribution here on this wonderfull forum.

The paint seems rather thick - maybe it would work better if you thin it and then apply several layers? A lot more work unfortunately.

Dunno if another layer of that light dispersing opaque tape on the LED frames would help. Just noticed that I have on my desk a roll of office tape that looks exactly the same! Wonder if it is available in colours? Or if you could colour it with overhead transparency pens or some such, and just leave the glass unpainted...

By the way, it's not my intention to make more of these. It was just a challenge and curiosity if I was able to make a few for my self (eventually 10). Maybe some more for the BG4500 CD. Anyway, it's possible to make them, that's the whole ideaBig Smile

If it's that product made for darking the rearlights on cars you are talking about, then it can be used on glass as well! Smile I used this with succes to coat the display window on the one side on one of my AV 9000 control centers. It's really just a dark clearcoat. Smile
