Sorry it wasn't that easy! The cap replacement actually sounds much worse than it is. There's of course always a small chance that it might be more involved, and seeing that we are in the NA forum, you might have more trouble finding a competent service to fix it for you.
Anyway it should be cheaper than a new good condition unit (and they will all need a recap sooner or later). In the end it's a matter of convenience and timetable - you could of course get another one, have this unit repaired at your leisure and then sell one or the other on, which shouldn't be a big problem.
