Really need help with Beolink Active...please...

Hi and thanks for all the help so far, it's really been a saver..

I got the Active kit today and it came with 2 IR (hockey puck) eyes. So, i've just a couple of questions and it's kinda urgent.

    1) VERY IMPORTANT: Can I wire both IR eyes to the single active? Will each of them work independently?

    2) What is tht (PC) connection for??? (There's 1 power link and next to it is 1 PC???)

    3) It also came with a B&O ML distribution box. It has Audio and Video, plus Link 1 thur 4. Just a simple connection box from the ML (audio is all i've got) and the BS9000 and the active using Link 1 and 2 (for example), yes??

     Thanks guys, Keith

    Hi Keith,

I'm not 100% sure with your first question, but as far as I remember you are not able to hook two eyes up.

The PC connection was for the old "Beolink PC Office" kit. Don't buy this, software is only available for Win98!

All connectors of the ML distributor are wired in parallel, so you can use any socket you like. The printing should just give you an idea which cable is what room if your distributor is mounted somewhere under the roof or in the cellar and you are trying to find a failure in about 10 years and can't remeber how on earth you wired this sh**** thing 10 years ago ;-)

    Hi Keith,

not the box, but maybe the IR receivers. Before you do this, someone should have a look in the service manual how the output drivers of the link eye are configured (push-pull, open collector or whatever). I don't have the manual so unfotunately I can't help you here.

Re: Really need help with Beolink Active...please...

B&O have a technote on how to hook up multiple IR eye's. I've seen it done.

It worked with an active or passive. Allowed you to add an IR eye next (and a long IR cable) to a exit or entrance door and was used to turn off systems. Similar system worked with an MCL kit as well.

I have seen a passive servicing 2 sets of CX speakers in two rooms with 2 eyes. So this must work.

The question is how this was setup?

Beoaus......THANKS !!  for the info...  I can imagine that the first idea would be to just connect them like you would a masterlink system....it's only 4 wires..???

    If anyone knows...please chime in....

    Thanks..

Re: Really need help with Beolink Active...please...

I would not rush into this. As mentioned earlier actives and passives get hidden away for years and its hard to tell how they were connected.  You really need to speak to someone that can detail the correct process.

Best to ask the question in the French forum (or another), or get someone else to do it. Some of those guys are hardcore engineers. They maybe your best avenues to a solution on this website.

    1) Not sure if this will work because the connection to the IR eye contains power supply, IR data and multiplexed I/O for the LEDs and the Buttons on the IR eye. May be that there is a trick to add just a second IR receiver (without the LEDs and buttons working) but I don´t know how - sorry.
    2) I think this is answered in the mean time. Connection for BeoLink PC.
    3) Already answered as well.

    Hi

I think you shout bay a Beolink active more and connect it like B&O recommends, if you go ahead and connect both eyes it will "not" work independently...
