    Beomaster 6500

Hi. I am looking for a Beomaster 6500 in perfect working order. Only snag is I am located in South Africa, so you would have to be willing to ship it there.

    Thanks

    Ben

Shipping costs from Holland to SA is around 110 euroTravel

This makes your purchase pretty expensive. Is there no B&O equipment locally to get?

    Beovirus? What's that?

    Re: Beomaster 6500

Unfortunately the Beosystem was never sold in my country. B&O only returned to the country under the current government. There are no Beomaster 6500 in SA. Maybe I need to ask someone to bring one back with them when they visit the UK.

Have a colleague/friend in Durban who once in a while visits Holland. Maybe I could ask him?

This is what you're looking for a reasonable price. I would not sell mine for that price, so try your luck!

It is a brilliant price but it seems there is a screw missing at the back bottom right to me. Also the back where the connections there seems to be part of the plastic where the cables go through is missing or has been cut out?

A friend has agreed to bring one back for me from the UK but I don't want to buy one that might not be 100% but think you for the tip!

Unless I am missing something in the picture, the back looks pretty much perfect to me!!

I have 2 in sales stock and they look the same, however, mine are considerably more expensive.

The one on ebay at the moment is a bargain.

Just landed back from a business trip. I think Leslie's 6500 is really mint. Ben don't hesitate to proceed.

Leslie can really do excellent packaging.

    Best regards

    Re: Beomaster 6500

Just looked at mine.  It does seem to be missing the cover screw in the back.  But B&O modified the backs with that cut so that the cables would be easier to attach.

    Re: Beomaster 6500

The cover screw is definitely missing which sends off alarm bells for me!

Anyway it has been sold for £90....not sure why someone would settle for such a low price?

To be honest Ben, I think you've missed a chance. I would have taken that risk even with the missing screw. Lots of B&O equipment have been opened e.g. for service and even the "experts" sometimes forget to put back all screws in place.

    Re: Beomaster 6500

There are only 3 screws that hold the entire cover in place. Which means the metal holder inside is either floating around in the BM or has been lost. Its a very obvious and large screw.

I can't take a chance of having it carted all the way to my country to be faced with problems. I'd rather pay more and have complete peace of mind. Of course I agree nothing is guarenteed in life. I feel its best not to make a rushed decision.

Of course though your lead on the Beomaster was very much appreciated.

Quite right! Good luck with the search, many BM's are offered on Ebay these days...

I think you should all take more water with watever you're drinking. In my monitor, the cover retaining screw is in place.

Only use a laptop mind and it is a rubbish photo so quite willing to be wrong.

He's being sarcastic - i.e. we should water down the booze we must be drinking.

Sorry, British sense of humour. I'm too old to change.

Like the British humor but sometimes it can be misunderstood like the Dutch word "shag" which means tobacco here. Last time I had a colleague over here from the UK and in a restaurant he was asking to a waitress if she had cigarettes for sale. She responded with " no cigarettes but do you want shag?Embarrassed My colleague looked like thisYes - thumbs up

Some one posted (and I just replied to) a question about a good condition white beosystem 6500 (I hope they meant the set of BM 6500 etc) that they wanted as a price

I posted in my reply a link to an UK eBay auction ... good luck on those leads

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
