Beogram CD 6500, tray level adjustment?

    Hey guys

I had my Beogram CD 6500 delivered last week and it works well but is far from how it was described. Anyway, I noticed it when I pulled it out of the box and it has been bugging me more and more. I thought it might have happened during shipping but I checked the pictures I was sent and if you look carefully on the pictures it isn't level.

I was wondering if it is possible for to adjust the level of the tray. The right side is perfect but the left side is too high. If I open it up, can I lower adjust the level?

The tray has been scratched on the area where it is high. It opens and closes fine but it is a tight fit. I hope this is a simple adjustment. Please see the pictures attached.

    Any help would be great.

Interesting question, mine CD7000 has the same tray-position, and I also looked for an explanation and found that many if not all cd-trays in these models have the same "issue". So I have not the answer on your question, but can confirme it's a much seen issue.

My CD7000 tray is also slightly higher, although not quite as much as that.

I would wait for one of the more service-savvy members to post, they may have an answer!

Inside the unit, at the front buttom of the CD mecanism there are 2 addjusting screw for the same, the manual onsite gives a good description of it.

I may have to become a gold member to get the manual to fix it. Wish I had purchased from a better source!

Major I will open mine later today and try to get a good pick of the mecanism, should be a simple addjustment.

    It's a pretty easy fix...

The cd drive and the tray are one big piece on a steel frame. The frame has rubber plates between the black bottom plate and the frame, making an adjustment possible in hight.

Just adjust the two screws on the sides of the frame/tray from the underside of the black bottom plate. It is not necessary to open anything... the bolts are visible on the underside.

It's very easy to fix a too high tray, but it is almost impossible to make a lower tray higher - then the rubber plates must be exchanged and this is a lot of work...

The addjusting screws is in front of the screwdrivers, Torx #10 CCW is up, CW is down.

Thanks a lot for the pics

That was super easy. I figured I would have to open it and mess around inside but I didn't. Thanks for the pics and advice.

My tray is now straight and looks better.

Does anyone know, how hard is it to change the trays and front panels (just the metal section)?

The tray is scratched and the panel has a tiny ding in it. Nothing major but I would like to change them in the future. The internals of this Beogram are in pretty good condition and the servo have been change recently too (well that is what I was told but I doubt the seller to be honest). Sounds great!

Wouldn't call it hard, but it is quite a bit of tinkering. The real problem will be getting a better tray and a panel without parting out another perfectly good or repairable deck!

I will have to check on eBay for a while. I may just buy another better condition Beogram 7000 and Beocord 7000 to have a set of 4. I don't need a record deck but sadly the record deck (7000) is the only beosystem part I can find locally at the moment.

Could this be something you're looking for? Not sure if it fits the 6500.
