What is the diameter and thickness of the nylon insert ?

Martin, I can't get it out of the shaftAngry. But it should be about 1 mm by 10 mm or thereabouts.

Try to drill up the hole to 2.5 Mm, force a 3 Mm screw into the hole and pull.

Re: Beogram 4000 bearing disc replacement

How is it stuck in Jacques? Force fit or glued? You could use a stick of wood and carefully try knocking it out...?

    Olly.

It just won't go. But anyway, I'll wait till I find a suitable replacement.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Re: Beogram 4000 bearing disc replacement

The Beogram 8000 series has a tiny hole at the bottom of the brass part where a tiny screwdriver
or similar can be inserted to push the insert upwards.
I don't know if the Beogram 4000 has the same.

Re: Beogram 4000 bearing disc replacement

    Hi Martin,

Yes there is a hole at the bottom of my Beogram 8000 shaft. Its bearing is of very high quality and the platter will rotate for AGES when launched by hand! Not so the end of production Beogram 4000 like mine. It is a pretty machine ruined by a poor bearing. It is quite a contrast to the one shown here by Olly! It is noisy. Of course you can't really hear it unless you stick your ear to the plinth, but it is here (motor and belt off, and no, nothing rubs!). I used Mobil One for the bronze insert and teflon grease at the bottom, because an oil bath leaks and my shelf will look like a garage floor!

No hole at the bottom, no.

    Jacques
