Internal or external Blu-ray for Beovision 7?
Guys,
I almost do not know where to begin, but to try and make it short I have had a Beovision 7-40 with internal Blu-ray for a year and a half. During this time the tv set, although functional, have had a variety of trouble. This has been related to the panel (replaced), PIM module (replaced), Blu-ray player (replaced) and software.
Now, my dealer agrees that enough is enough, as well as does B&O luckily. I am about to get my entire set replaced, and have managed to put some funds in between and use this opportunity to upgrade to 7-55 with backlit LED. One could after such an experience wonder why I stick with B&O, but trouble aside the picture is unmatched by any other manufacturer. That I know of anyway.
So, I have now ordered my new set without Blu-ray. Less things to go wrong. However the recent trouble of the player was related to BD-live, where the whole thing jammed from lack of memory when playing certain discs. I was explained by my dealer that B&O knew of this, and that it was due to lack of memory for some discs. The most recommended external player to go with these sets, is the Samsung BD-C7500. It has, according to the Samsung Internet site, 1 GB of internal memory. Then, I was reading up on Beovision 7 specs, where I see that the internal player of that set has 2 GB of internal memory.
Now, I wonder if I made a msitake ordering monitor only, or if I am on the right track all in all.
Any views would be highly appreciated.

Considering the extra cost for a "b&o" Bluray player, I would say you did a wise choice if you can live with the extra "cumberness" of having a third party Bluray. I use a Sony BDP-s370, (cost 170e) and it works perfectly. Awesome sound and picture.

STB brackets manufactures a bracket especially for the BD-C7500 to top mount it on the Beovision 7 stand. It will be "hidden" on the back of the quite monumentous cabinet, but of course visible from the side. Anyway I was more concerned about the fact that it seems the internal player had more memory after all...

Mine freezes for about a second, I guess this is when it changes the layer, about half way into the movie.

Unless it is part of a masterlink system, I would buy my own blu ray player. There are new Samsungs coming out that are really cool (as in B&O) looking, and in 3 years you won't be using it anyway.

Re: Internal or external Blu-ray for Beovision 7?
Hi!
BD-C7500 works well. Remember that a lot of commands are missing when using Beo4. I´m using codes for bdc 4600 but sometimes I have to change to get menu 6,7,8,9 which are not supported in 4600.
I use stb bracket
