Beovision 5 will not switch-on[EDIT: resolved]
When I added an HDR1 to my BV5, I had a minor problem with the TV staying switched-on (permanent green light). That issue was resolved.
Now I've got the opposite after adding a BC2 DVD system.
I've connected a BC2 DVD to the BV5 and
reassigned the connections in the connections menu. (HDR to VTape, Sky
STB to V.Aux and BC2 to Decoder (reasigned V.Aux STB).
The Beo4 video Option 0 has been selected (all BC2 output goes to BV5).
The
BV5 will now not respond at all to the Beo4 and stays switched off
whatever is selected on the Beo4. I've tried turning on the TV using a
different Beo4 from a different room but there's no response. Also tried
disconnecting the BC2 (both powering off and removing the scart.)
Finally,
having regard for the previous solution to the TV staying on after
fitting the HDR1, have tried leaving the TV without power for a period.
Makes no difference.
Anyone got any ideas?
Graham

Re: Beovision 5 will not switch-on
Update. If I put a disc into the BC2 and press GO (on the BC2) then the TV green light comes on and the PIN for the TV is requested on screen. However, the PIN appears not to be able to be entered via the Beo4 and after a minute or two the TV closes itself down again.

Re: Beovision 5 will not switch-on
After playing around with resetting the Beo4 options (2 for TV, 0 for BC2) the TV eventually responded. As the TV would not respond to the other Beo4 in my house that I had not re-optioned, this is a bit of a mystery to me, other than to now think/ realise that the option selection doesn't just affect what the Beo4 transmits but does something within the TV also.
Only remaining issue is that only one STB works.

Re: Beovision 5 will not switch-on
Did you power down the BV5 at the wall when you option programmed the BC2? Sounds very much like you set both devices to option 0, which would explain the symptoms you were seeing, namely the BV5 not responding to IR commands.

Hi Graham
When using an STBc splitter to control two devices, you have to ensure that the two sockets (1 x chrome is STB SAT: 1 x gold is STB V.AUX) are assigned correctly. I assume that this is connected to the BeoVision5?

Hi Grahah.
The option settings alter the TV(orhiFi) software settings, and NOT the remote control output - which I think is your understanding when you say "doesn't just affect what the Beo4 transmits"
In fact, option programming has NO impact on what a beo4 transmits, rather it tells the source products what to "see" ie, a TV can react to video AND audio commands, or just video....and so on.
Re-optioning the TV therefre cured the error.

Problem now resolved! ................ I'm now using one STB via an HDR1, and the other via the TV, so they are currently on separate IR blasters without a splitter. I had re-assigned the Decoder to V.Aux STB instead of SAT DTV. so the set is now working properly.
Thanks to everyone else for advice, I probably did mess up the options without first switching off the TV and BC2 - and now understand how it all works a little better having got the wrong idea about the option settings somehow only changing what the Beo4 transmitted.

Re: Beovision 5 will not switch-on
Something missing I think.
But Vtape connection with the HDR, (automatically) named Vtape or VMEM in the menu,
AV connection connected with BC2, named DVD in the menu, responds to the DVD button and
Sky connected to the Decoder, named STB-DTV or STB-VAUX, responds to DTV or VAUX.
This should be the setting/setup
Bottomline is, VTAPE and AV has datalink over pin 8, decoder hasn't.
BV5 option2, BC2 option 0.

Thanks Beobuddy. Set up is like that, with STB-DVT enabled via the SAT button on my (old style) Beo4.
Sky STB on decoder reset to RGB output. Might be my imagination, but the Sky image via the decoder, and even after re-setting to RGB, still seems slightly less crisp than it was set on PAL via its original scart connection (now occupied by BC2). All now working well pending some masterlink connections and radio tuning.

Re: Beovision 5 will not switch-on
That s correct.
The decoder input doesn t support RGB. So the image is indeed less.
So it is a kind of luxery problem. AV supports RGB and data over pin8 where Decoder only suppports composite.
Both sources/inputs can use the STB-C though.
Hooking the SKY to the HDR1 will also not inprove the image as the HDR1 sends also only the composite through to the BV5.
