9000 due in hospital can you help???

Hi everyone, my BeoSound 9000 is due in B&O hospital next week for exploratory work. These are the symptoms and set up.

BV7-32 (option 2) linked to 9000 (op 0) in same room and 3500 (op 5) in bedroom, op 5 as I have a stand alone TV in the same bedroom. All worked perfectly for the last 5 years or so. All of a sudden the stand-by light on the 9000 started flashing and a strange clicking in the unit, as though switching on and off. The 9000 will not switch on and the 3500 will not recognise any source from it.

Now the odd thing is I have disconnected the the 9000 from the TV and it works just fine by itself and the 3500 also works with it. I know the problem is not the TV as I have a second TV and as soon as the 9000 is plugged into it the flashing and clicking starts immediately.

Any ideas will be much appreciated Unsure

Try to reset all the devices and then re enter the options to every device.

All these should be set without the masterlink connected

    Best regards

Only thing I can think of is either the ML module is faulty in the 9000 or the ML Cable may be faulty - did you use the same cable as you use in the Living Room?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I used a brand new ML cable from the 2nd TV to the 9000 with the same result. If it is the MLmodule, strange it is only defective with the TV connected??

This is probably a long shot, but take a look in the ML sockets to make sure they aren't messed up somehow. I think the construction is similar to modular (RJ) sockets and the "whiskers" that make contact can sometimes become twisted / dislodged and create shorts. No need to dismantle anything, just grab a small flashlight and take a peek into the opening.

    Jonnie,

Based on your description of the problem I think it is unlikely that the B&O hospital will find a problem when they test your unit particularly as you have already disconnected the BS9000 and it apparently then worked.

Generally speaking I would agree with other contributors that the Masterlink would be the first area to check.

An open circuit/high resistance ground connection within the Masterlink cable would often cause this type of problem.

At the time of the problem starting was there ANY other electrical equipment plugged into the same mains supply (same power ring) ?

I know the problem is not the TV as I have a second TV and as soon as the 9000 is plugged into it the flashing and clicking starts immediately.

When you plugged in the second TV in, did you use the SAME masterlink cable or a different one ?

    Regards Keith....

Re: 9000 due in hospital can you help???

    Hi Keith,

I used a different ML cable, brand new and previously unused.

The system is plugged into the downstairs ring main. There are a couple of TVs, sat receiver and 2 pairs of BeoLabs on the same ring.

It is strange though that when unplugged from the TV it works fine, even connected to the 3500 with the original ML. so I cannot see it being a problem with the socket? The ML cable has never been removed from the 9000 before so damage to the pins seems unlikely.

      Regards
