    Which Beogram please

I have a Beosystem 8500, which Beogram  models are compatible with my system and do any of them require a preamp?Hara

    Re: Which Beogram please

Hi, and welcome to beoworld. Obviously the Beogram 8500 is the one designed to match the Beocentrer 8500. As long as you use the PHONO connection there is a built in preamp (RIAA). There are other Beograms you could us, but avoid Beogram 3500, 4500, 6500 and 7000 as these have RIAAs fitted as standard. This will cause sound issues as you will in effect have 2 preamps.

Take a look at the link below for some more info.

Hi Craig, many thanks for your comments.

I have buried in my roof space a very ancient Beomaster 900 audio system, which included a Beogram 1000V, tried this many many moons ago but don't remember how I connected - only that all I got was a horrible splurg which caused me to disconnect and abandon with great haste.Since then I have shown no real interest but now feel like dragging out some of my old records. Thanks again I guess I had better seek a  Beogram. 8500

The BG1000V should be fine - the VF has the built in RIAA.
