    HELP needed for my speakers

I would like to know for my B&O MS 150.2 if

    a) can I have the black cloth on the covers for the speakers changed to a new one and

    b) who can do the job?

Any suggestion is really really appreciated!

Hi,  Must admit I do envy you with such quality speakers.  Anyway, most speaker problems can be solved by Recone Lab based in Huddersfield (assuming you are in UK).  They restored my Beovox M75's & their quality of work is faultless.  Try www.richardallanaudio.com/reconelab.new/  They've been going for over half a century & their service is unbeatable.  Charming people!

DoubeR was referring to the speaker covers, not the actual drive cones themselves.

You could always have a go at doing it yourself! Not sure what cloth to use, but I re-covered my S25s successfully, and the M150 covers seem pretty similar in their basic construction (even if they are several times bigger!).

Darn it!  Just thought, in this instance I may have sent you on a 'Fools errand'.  Recone do not refurb' speaker cabinets & replacing the black fret maybe comes under that heading.  I believe replacement cloth can be purchased from any of the 'Maplin' chain of stores.  A year or two ago I had some Beovox S55's & replaced the black cloth myself.  Any problems I suggest you contact 'Medogsfat', (Chris), a member of this site.  Very helpful & very knowledgeable!  Good luck!

indeed it is the cloth on the front cover - nothing to do with the actual speakers

I am not inclined to a DIY job for I am utterly useless and I would rather have my ears stapled to a horse than mess with my beloved MS 150

I see one can get cloth on the net but then you want the right one

money is not an issue - I would love a job well done!

and I do know Recone does not refurb... that is a pity :(

Slightly off topic, but for anyone wanting to use Recone, and I agree that they are fantastic, ring them and speak to Mike directly. Their email answering is a little slow!

On the MS150s, I would also consider having the capacitors changed as this will make a big difference. Changing the grille fabric is not quite as simple as some because there is the silver trim around it which will need to be carefully removed and put back on.

I can concurr with the above views re Reconelab, I have found Wilmslow Audio helpful for replacement or upgraded capacitors, they also supply veneer and speaker cloth. They may offer a refurbishment service so it would be wortha try.

    Hi DoubleR,

are the frets on your speakers the ones which are in 3 parts with slim aluminium frames around each cloth panel?

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
